Re: Hurricane Season Coming to an End!
I hope I'm wrong but I think next year is going to be bad in the sense of landfalls. La Nina will be ending and SST's in the Atlantic will and still are above normal.

La Nina usually creates above average seasons actually... But they may again predict an above average season.

If Panama doesn't develop, this could be toast for the season.

Another opinion that the season may be at an end (from Barbados meteorologists)

Sanibel, I really think its now over. Just pray we get some rain from fronts that come thru the next 6 months. The system by Panama will most likely move west and die.

There are Hurricane Seasons world wide, it never ends.
When the Atlantic fades, we can always look to the WPAC, SPAC, and Indian Oceans.

Yep, when the Weather Channel stops doing the 10 minutes before the hour Tropical Update you know the season is over. The one thing I've learned over the past few seasons is SST's gets to much hype and dust and upper level winds doesn't get enough attention. I'd like to see more emphasis on seasonal prediction for the upper level winds, since they rule the roost, IMO.

I think the season might be good for one more INVEST before it dies off. If not, then it'll be interesting having 92L, who is still very much alive, being the last system of the season... We shall remember thee, storm of the Azores! But seriously, for all practical purposes, there's a very low chance of TD17 coming out of nowhere before the year is out. Again, though, the other seasons should kick up soon...

Re: Hurricane Season Coming to an End!
The Weather Channel always stops doing their tropical update around Nov. 1st. I don't like that because Nov. is historically more active than June, so if the Channel skips Nov. than it should also skip June(except maybe for the first few days because it's the beginning of the season). And personally I don't care if the chances of a U.S. landfall are lower in Nov.

I've always thought the Weather Channel was extremely annoying; they make too many mistakes and simply everything for the layman, who's probably not that interested unless he's in the dreaded cone. That being said, I must admit that I thank them for being my only resource during Dean (after Jamaica, that is).
