I think this early xmas season stuff is a lost cause. We are controlled by the Marketing World and there's not much we can do about it. Ask around, start your own poll, people are decorating their homes before Thanksgiving now! I've asked around and those that do (since in their minds, the malls are decorated, why not?) almost whisper - yes I'm decorated now, and they also provide lots of excuses: it's too busy the day after Thanksgiving or I work more hours before xmas, this is the only time of the year I can decorate.
I've given up. I have a relative who sends out his xmas cards right after Halloween. His card hasn't arrived yet but I predict one day next week it will. I misplaced it one year and he wanted to know where it was (since I display our xmas cards on a wall quilt I sewed, in the order they arrived)! I said if you didn't send it out so dang early, I wouldn't misplace it. Sigh......
I have such a short xmas shopping list this year to - less than 5 gifts to purchase. I don't even know how to act this year. LOL
But I just give up on this early xmas rush. It's almost as if by Dec. 25th, xmas decorations/merch, etc. has been around for so long, it feels like 3 months! LOL
