REMARKS:
Low level centre now well removed from deep convection. Centre fix obtained from
extrapolating VIS imagery and 1009UTC SSMIS pass. DT 2.0 based on shear pattern.
CI held at 3.0. 0827 WINDSAT pass indicates a very weak system however allowance
has been made in the forecast for a diurnal burst of convection early Tuesday.

A Cyclone WARNING is now current for Eastern Torres Strait Islands including
Murray and Darnley Islands.
The Cyclone WARNING for remaining areas including Cape Yorke Peninsula and
Thursday Island is CANCELLED.
At 10:00 pm EST Tropical Cyclone Guba Category 1 with central pressure 990
hectopascals was centred near latitude 10.2 south and longitude 144.8 east which
is 285 kilometres east of Thursday Is and 340 kilometres north northeast of
Lockhart River. The cyclone is moving north at 9 kilometres per hour.
Tropical Cyclone Guba, Category 1, with wind gusts up to 100 km/h has moved
steadily north during the last few hours and is now unlikely to produce gales on
the Australian mainland.
However Tropical Cyclone Guba is likely to affect islands in the eastern Torres
Strait area, including Darnley and Murray Islands, during Tuesday. Gales may be
experienced in these areas from early Tuesday morning. Tides may be higher than
normal.
