Funny how Southwest PA has a great shot at a white christmas, then the Central Mountains do.

Yeah, I question that too. Maybe he lives there and wishes.

Would LOVE a white Christmas - would settle for some more snow though! I am not picky! :jump:

Do you honestly believe that the Sierra Crest will have no snow on the ground for Christmas? Be careful also about that SE corner of AZ as we've had two White Christmases in the past 20 years plus three snowfalls on the 24th.

Your definition of a white Christmas is a little more strict than some others I've seen. Most forecasts I've seen define it as one inch on the ground (not two) by 1200 UTC on Christmas. :P

In the 17 years I've been alive we've had one White Christmas.. and one Christmas with a layer of ice and sleet on the ground.

For me, my definition of Christmas is having snow on Christmas Eve or Day.

I think that happened once or twice for me in my entire lifetime. I don't even think that I've had snow on the ground immediately before Christmas.

I've never experienced a Christmas with snow on the ground, but I have seen falling snow on Christmas eve. It was back in 1999 during my first Christmas in Raleigh, NC. Flurries began during the late afternoon and a steady snow fell that evening. With temperatures above freezing though, it only managed to accumulate lightly on the cars and mailboxes and had all melted by Christmas morning.

Ironically enough, his chances are higher as well.

This far away, anything less than looking at the climatological odds are pretty pointless. I had not seen this thread until today, but said foreacast posted back in November should be interpreted as little more than a joke or entertainment....even now it's way too early to accurately forecast who will/will not have a white Christmas, except maybe South Florida.

I think that I would pay to see that "fat lady singing on a flying pig" thing that fact789 was talking about. Could use some humor.
