The Morning Paper

#1 Postby azskyman » Tue Jul 01, 2003 11:07 pm

How many of you start the day with a morning paper delivered to your mailbox or driveway?

And, among those who get them during the week, how many actually have time or take the time to read them before heading off to work or school?

And..finally, what is it that you check out? Sports scores? Headlines? Obituaries (to make sure you are still here)?

We get a 7 day Arizona Republic. I spend less than 5 minutes whizzing through the sections before heading off to work, and only about 5 more minutes when I get home during the week. Saturday's edition gets our attention for an hour or so...same with Sunday. We usually give up on the Sunday paper before we get through it all.

How about your newspaper reading habits?

My parents get the Topeka Capital Journal ( http://www.cjonline.com ) every day. I read it occasionally, when important stuff is in there. ;)

We get The Advocate out of Baton Rouge. It has better local coverage than the Daily Advertiser which is printed here in town! My husband takes it to work to read while he has his morning coffee there.

We also get the Daily Advertiser at work so I read it at lunch. I have to keep up on the arrest records, births, and obituaries!

We used to get the Daily Advertiser at home but our next door neighbor would lie in wait for it to be delivered and would read and then roll it back up and put it on our driveway so I let my subscription expire. Now he reads the other neighbors paper.

We get the local paper here... I read some parts of it when I feel like it. I don't spend to much time reading through it, though. I watch or listen to the national news on cable during most of the day.

Nope....but I do begin each morning checking news and sports headlines in the Atlanta Journal online and Yahoo.

The last daily newspaper I subscribed to was the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, when I lived in Madison, Mississippi in 1996.

WE have the Sikeston Standard-Democrat E-mailed to us every morning; I read it when I need my morning laugh.

We too receive the Az Republic 7 days a week, I read the headlines and state section mostly, on Thursdays, the fishing report. Michelle does the business section religiously, Oh.........let's not forget the comics!

Our paper [i]The Monett Times[i] is also one of the few remaining afternoon papers. I try to read it everyday...although I only read the stories that interest me. I also love reading the police report page. Sometimes it is sad how many of the people on that page I knew and/or graduated with.

We used to get The Morning Call, but that was way too expensive and sometimes we didn't even get it.

Every Friday we get the Catasauqua/North Catasauqua digest that just talks about the news here... my dad usually ends up buying The Morning Call every day anyways...

I don't read the paper much... if at all.

I get the morning paper and skim it when I get home from work. If nothing else I read the death notices and the metro section every day.
And I love the Sunday paper which they throw the first half of it on Saturday evening. Love cutting my coupons and skimming the sales.

Bfez, me too! I only read the paper 1 day a week. I read Sunday's paper because of the advertisements and the coupons. We used to get the Orlando Sentinel delivered 7 days a week, but neither of us have the time to read it. Now I just pick up the Sunday paper at the store.
