What a forecast

Ok...so I know that for the most part, humans dont have to endure the weather on Mt Ranier...but it makes for fascinating reading jus tthe same. Just by tomorrow night the top of the mountain could get as much as 123 inches of snow...But the forecast pretty much has a 100% chance on Tuesday as well...with 70% pops for the rest of the week. If that really works out Ranier could 200 inches by the end of the week. That is just crazy Yes I realize its the top of a mountain...but that is a lot even at the top of Colorado's Mountains. This is the snowiest non-habitable place in North america though right ?



Today: Periods of snow. High near 9. Windy, with a south southwest wind between 34 and 41 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 31 to 37 inches possible.

Tonight: Periods of snow. Temperature rising to around 15 by 5am. Windy, with a south southwest wind between 30 and 39 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 37 to 43 inches possible.

Monday: Periods of snow. Temperature rising to near 20 by noon, then falling to around 7 during the remainder of the day. Windy, with a south southwest wind between 31 and 39 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 37 to 43 inches possible.

Monday Night: Periods of snow showers. Low around 4. Windy, with a southwest wind 28 to 31 mph decreasing to between 18 and 21 mph. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Tuesday: Periods of snow showers. High near 21. West southwest wind between 14 and 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Tuesday Night: Periods of snow showers. Low around 1. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Wednesday: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 16. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

This is why it's also important to keep an eye on that volcano too. That would be one heck of a Lahar (for those not in the know... mud/debri/water flowing down a volcano) during the summer months... imagine if it decided to wake up loaded with winter snows.

The forecasts for Mt. Washington in New England are just about as bizzare if I remember correctly with the winds usually being much higher. I'll see what I can find. Stuff like that is just unimaginable to us lowlanders!!!

The forecasts for Mt. Washington in New England are just about as bizzare if I remember correctly with the winds usually being much higher. I'll see what I can find. Stuff like that is just unimaginable to us lowlanders!!!

Mt. Washington is not that tall either - a bump compared to the Rockies and Mr. Ranier but the weather can be winter like even in August. When I was 15, I went up on the cog railway to the summit. It was about 75 - 80 at the bottom and in the 30's and windy as heck at the summit when we got there. There may have been snow, but I can't remember.

That's an amazing forecast for Mt. Ranier, especially since it's not even officially winter yet!
