LOL! :ggreen:

After 13 years of "exceptional drought" conditions, I think I have the right to brag a little, don't you? 8.81" rain over the past week (last Saturday and TODAY) and now 8" of a wet snow, this may help up us *somewhat*, if we can only keep 'er up for the rest of the autumn season and winter! :ggreen:

So, I had to rehang some of my Christmas lights thanks to the wind and wet snow. My yard looks like a winter wonderland, "Gone away is the Blue Bird, here to stay is a new bird, we'll sing a love song as we walk along, walking in our Winter Underwear! :ggreen:

LOL! Send some of that precip our way. Think we skipped winter and spring and are going straight back to summer down here.

WELL......I REALLY don't have to "dream" of a White Christmas now!!:ggreen:

These systems have been TOTALLY unexpected but VERY WELCOME!!

I have yet another HUGE, HUGGGGGGGGGE system, already started as a matter of fact :ggreen: A FOOT or "more" is expected by Weds. now...this is going down in the books as one of the EARLIEST, WETTEST starts to the winter season in EONS (if possibly EVER!)!

Here we go! After 13 YEARS of exceptional drought conditions, it's odd seeing so much precip in a short time! I mean, 8.81" of rain in a weeks time, now 8" of snow on the ground, 5" from previous system, it's SO wet, we don't know what to DO

How's yours gonna be?

There's always a white Christmas around here.

It's been snowing quite a bit lately, but this year it hasn't got cold yet. It's really weird. So far the coldest we've got is -3. I haven't ever seen it stay so mild this late in the year without a cold snap.

WINTER STORM WATCH just posted!

Anyway, don't have too white of a Christmas in Northern Arizona. We're spending Christmas at the Grand Canyon and I'm taking the kids to hike down to the bottom.

HEY SCOTT!! Long time no talk!!

Yes, I've been climbing and trekking in Peru (dang volcano we were climbing blew up on us!) until a week ago and had to get all caught up with everything at work home etc.

Anyway, looking forward to northern Arizona. I've been around the world many times, but I still think the Four Corners region is one of the two or three most beautiful places in the entire world.

NOW...to the system at hand, weatherwunderground has recently updated the storm totals...at any rate, there's gonna be a LOTTA snow!

Well, Mr. Snowman, you must of sent your drought out here to us Southeastern U.S. folks >.<.

Precipitation...

.LAST WEEK...
OTHER THAN SOME ISOLATED SPRINKLES...MOST OF THE REGION REMAINED
COMPLETELY DRY THIS WEEK AS DRY HIGH PRESSURE REMAINED DOMINANT.

.MONTH...
RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER REMAINED WELL BELOW
NORMAL WITH LESS THAN AN INCH ACROSS MOST LOCATIONS WITH MANY BELOW
A HALF AN INCH. THIS MEANT MOST AREAS SAW RAINFALL AMOUNTS AROUND 20
TO 30 PERCENT OF NORMAL.

.SEASONAL/ANNUAL...
SUMMER AND EARLY FALL ARE STATISTICALLY THE WETTEST MONTHS OF THE
YEAR, MAINLY FORM JULY THROUGH EARLY OCTOBER. HOWEVER, THIS YEAR
RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE CONTINUED WELL BELOW NORMAL INLAND WITH YEAR
TO DATE RAINFALL DEFICITS AROUND 15 TO 20 INCHES.

How about how much longer cities have with water? Some have already run out of ANY water...but Raleigh, North Carolina's capital, hasn't...*yet*.

In Raleigh, water is now being pumped from Lake Benson to the Neuse River in an attempt to supplement the city's water supply. The city normally draws water from Falls Lake, but the lake has reached record low levels, with only a 110-day supply of water remaining. The Army Corp of Engineers is allowing Raleigh to pump 17 million gallons a day from Lake Benson, which should provide an additional 3 weeks of water supply. The project is costing the city about $300,000.

110 days left, plus an additional two weeks is all the water they have left (per November 21 report). We have not really received anymore rainfall since then, and other than maybe scattered showers, are not expecting more anytime soon. Heck, our high for tomorrow (where I live, on the coast) is expected to be 77! 77 degrees! That is absolutely INSANE!

brunota2003, I feel for you folks back there...after 13 years of exceptional drought conditions, I know what y'all are going through!

Luckily, we don't depend on ground water supply, if we did, ALL of us in Northern Az. would have been gone 10 years ago!! We have DEEP, DEEP wells that we use for water, some wells are over 2000' deep!!!! While other wells are just over 700' deep! However, the Coconino Aquafier, the wests largest (which we pull from) has been said to be dropping and if THAT happens, God help us ALL!

And so the dumpage begins.....scanner traffic has St. Rt. 77 from the St. Rt. 260 Junction CLOSED, numerous slide offs, DPS Officers reporting 50' visibilty from the 77 & 260 to St. Hwy. 377! Visibility here in town down to less than 30' according to PLPD patrol officers at 260 and Penrod Extension...so yeah, it's a "DUMPAGE baby, DUMPAGE!"

Schools mountain wide are shut down, according to scanner traffic and local radio station, numerous business are going to remain closed today.

Another 8" expected, wind is drifting the snow from what I can see!

Stay tuned as daylight allows more accurate measurements AND PHOTOS! :ggreen:
