Oh Steve, I'm so sorry for your loss. This has to be so hard on Kathy being there without her "rock" to lean on. I'm still praying for you and your family.

An update to our friends here at S2k.

Kathy's dad quietly passed away last night. Although he had suffered a stroke recently, he was generally comfortable and recognized those around him since then. He had some small limited conversation with family from time to time. He had a particularly good weekend this past Saturday into Sunday.

We are headed back to IL for services midweek, and if the weather holds up, we have return flights to Phoenix late on Thursday. We really don't want to be near the airports from Friday through the weekend. We have a planned trip back to IL in January, and that is when we can spend some quality time.

Elsewhere, daughter-in-law Grace is feeling better and our first grandson still seems on track to enter the world in April. He will be a source of strength and hope as we enter the new year.

Thanks for your continued support of our family during these difficult days before the holiday.

I'm sorry to hear of Kathy's dad. It really makes the holidays hard, some years are better than others though. My mom passed 13 years ago today and it will be 8 years for my dad on dec. 30.

Glad Grace is doing better and I bet you can't wait til April for the new grandbaby!!!!!!

My heart goes out to Kathy and you. I lost my dad in 1996 and my Mom on Dec 31,2003 . Losing a loved one in the holiday period means that that years holiday will be bittersweet. But in the years to come it will get better and new memories will be made and old ones revisited. Just think of the new grandchild and look at things through his or her eyes to learn to enjoy life again.

Steve and Kathy. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. I know what Kathy is feeling since losing my Dad rather suddenly in September. Please know that even though we have never met, you and your family will be in our prayers this Holiday Season.

Steve give my birthday buddy an extra strong hug and some of the wonderful comfort you so beautifully bestow just by being yourself. Then have her turn around and do the same to you also. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time. Special prayers being said for traveling mercies also. May God's Peace and Grace comfort you.

I'm so sorry Steve for the loss of Kathy's father. I'm glad that the family was still able to spend some quality time with him after the stroke before this.

Thanks again for the prayers and warm thoughts. It was a quick trip to Illinois, and 16 degrees on Wednesday morning as we drove to the service.

We were overwhelmed with the support of friends and family that day as the service started later than scheduled with more than 200 people coming in personally to share condolences with the family.

I was asked by Kathy's family to present the eulogy, and I couldn't help but feel the presence of my own friends and family, including those of you at S2k, standing beside me while I did so. Your thoughts and prayers were there in that room.

I'll let this post now pass through the pages, but please know you were both felt and appreciated by one of your own here at S2k.

I'm glad that you felt us there in spirit, Steve. I'm also not surprised that they asked you to give the eulogy. You do have such a wonderful way with words.
