The Hobbit will be made!!!
Looks like the deal is finally done for Peter Jackson to make the Hobbit! WOOOOHOOOOOO! Officially he's going to be the executive producer but I would bet my bottom dollar that he'll end up directing

God (and Peter Jackson) only know when we'll finally get to see the films.
The article did state that there will be 2 "Hobbit" films and 1 sequel.
That should make about 6 years..... hope I live that long!

Re: The Hobbit will be made!!!
I think that's great!
I had read The Hobbit and The LOTR trilogy when I was in High School after my Dad read them. I was thrilled to see how well the trilogy was made and received in the movies. I just saw the "Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" this past weekend. One of the cable stations was showing all three in a row.
I remember while reading the books always going back to the maps that were inside and following the Hobbit's and their companion's trails. I was so sad when I was finished with them.

Re: The Hobbit will be made!!!
I admit to being a LOTR's addict for a loooooooong time.
Unlike some of the Tolkein purists who took exception to some of "poetic license" take by Peter Jackson in the movies, I think the movies were done in an outstanding manner. I am so stoked that the Hobbit is going to be made soon! The second movie is going to be very interesting as well since it will bridge the time gap between the Hobbit and the Trilogy. Even though Tolkein didn't write a book covering this period, a lot of his other works made references to events in between the two. This is definitely going to be interesting

Re: The Hobbit will be made!!!
From what I've read so far, the first new movie is going to be "The Hobbit" in it's entireity. The second movie is going to be about the years between The Hobbit and teh Trilogy. When The Hobbit ends, Bilbo is around 60 and when the trilogy starts he's celebrating his 111th birthday. The best I can tell, they are going to use some of the other Tolkein materials to bridge that time span. That's what's going to be real interesting......
