1914 Christmas Truce

#1 Postby Chacor » Mon Dec 24, 2007 5:49 am

Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the famous peace-on-earth gesture during the Great War (WWI). On December 24, 1914, German and British soldiers on the Western Front stopped all combat and sang carols to each other. Pleasantries and gifts were exchanged; a football match was played (the Germans won).

The bloodshed resumed after Christmas Day, but this truce still stands out as undoubtedly the most surreal moment of the Great War.

A very beautiful and surreal moment.

I believe that this is the background of the "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron". :D
