This afternoon, NWS raised my low from 20 to 23, which seems more reasonable based on surrounding forecasts. It's currently 34 or 31.4, based on 2 nearby sources. lol

Either way, it's ccccold out there!

I need to get my weather station installed, but I keep thinking I'm moving soon. *sigh*

Btw, our high today was forecasted to be 47 - it was 44.

It's official! As of 8:22pm, I have dropped to 32.4F...a.k.a. freezing! :cold:

This is MUCH earlier than I had expected to hit the freezing mark this evening. Looks like I will be seeing a 12+ hour freeze for my location tonight.

Just to clarify, freezing is 32.0F. You cannot round-down to get to 0C. You can still call it 32F but it's technically not freezing.

Anyway, somehow I'm not surprised your thermometer shows it at 32F already.

I'm at 39F here.

I am now down to 31.6F.

BTW - I am surprised that you are only at 39F Jason. That is warmer than most of the surrounding weather stations up there.

Grogans Mill, for instance, is already down to 36.3F and Indian Springs is at 33.7F (http://www.weatherunderground.com/cgi-b ... ands%2C+tx)

I'm down to 38F now.

Actually, the station that most closely mirrors my location & readings is this one:

http://www.oakridgewx.net/wx.htm (now 39F)

And this one is actually a bit closer, but I don't know how accurate it is (now 37.6):

9pm Houston-area temperatures...

IAH - 37F
Hooks - 34F
Conroe - 28F
Hobby - 38F
Sugar Land - 37F

My thermometer - 30.6F

Based on these numbers, I think the NWS seriously needs to consider lowering their forecast a few degrees.

I'm at 27.2 at 9:40 near lake livingston.. It was down to 25.9 for a few seconds looking at my temp log....

At least we don't live in central florida....... Orlando at 35 F dew point 8 F with winds gusting to 27mph.... Ouch! If the winds died down they would be in huge trouble..

The NWS website just lowered the temperatures for tonight. The point forecast now shows 27F near IAH, 24F where I am here in northern Harris county, and 22F in Conroe! :cold:

They have also lowered highs for tomorrow down to 49-51F across the area.

Florida people have a thread for how cold it is, but they got nothing on Texas.

Southeast Texas dominates Florida for Arctic weather.

28ºF (-3º) already in Conroe, just outside Houston, where the sun sets an hour later than Florida.

Austin-Bergstrom is already down to 23F!

It looks likely that they will be in the mid to upper teens by sunrise over there on the SE side of Austin.

35F here now.

NWS went down to 23F for my location.

I hate it when they change the rules after the game has already started.

Time to bundle-up and throw a sheet on my Pygmy Dates. I hope the Majesty Palms survive this.
