Re: What are you watching this winter?
Looks like some shows will see cancellation there, if the strike goes worse.

Yeah, but a lot of shows that would have been pulled in a normal season due to low ratings stayed on the air because they had new episodes left. Usually by November about 1/3rd of the new shows have been yanked, didn't happen this year.

One has to realize this strike will affect the 2008-2009 season.

Ausiello Report
UPDATED Strike Chart: How Long Before Your Shows Go Dark?
[UPDATED 12/20/07] There seems to be little doubt that the writers' strike will result in a shorter TV season, but just how short are we talking? Well, as you might've guessed, it varies from show to show. Those programs that are either highly efficient (Friday Night Lights) or have entered the season with a backlog of episodes (Men in Trees, Law & Order: SVU) will be in originals well into the new year. But series with tighter production schedules (i.e., nearly every half-hour comedy) will go dark almost immediately. Of course, figuring out how many episodes remain in your favorite shows' arsenals requires a lot of numbers crunching — and as I've come to learn, the only thing you Ausholes despise more than a Wednesday without AA is mathematics. With that in mind, I pulled together this incredibly handy (and 85 percent complete) cheat sheet. Keep in mind: The information below is subject to change, particularly if both sides get back to the bargaining table and resolve this frakkin' thing! (For ongoing WGA strike coverage, read TVGuide.com's Strike Watch blog.)
• If your favorite show isn't included above, don't panic — it's not because I hate you. It's because I'm still trying to track down the info. As soon as I get it, I'll add it to the list. [Michael Ausiello speaking.... not me....LOL]
Here's a large list of TV shows being affected by the strike.

Some shows have been canceled already: Big Shots, that caveman show, Back to You and Journeyman.
Several shows are in deep trouble: Bionic Woman is one. No word on cancellation.
Several shows that are on their final season have been shorten: Scrubs and possibly Battlestar Galatica come to mind. .
Dirty Sexy Money and one other show I can't remember received full season orders after the strike started.
You need to keep in mind the following:
1. This season is basically done . . kaput.
2. The deadline for next season's pilots may have passed or almost there. There probably won't be any new shows next season.
3. Even if the writer's strike is dealt with before it is time for next season filming, it's the actors' (SAG) turn (contract is up on June 30th). And they're pissed. . . .
Next to leave the air: The daytime soaps . . . Though I hear that some of the writers have invoked the fi-core portion of the WGA guidelines and will still be working on scripts.
We need to come up with Viewer's Guide to the Surviving the WGA's strike:
My first recommendation: Life on Mars -- BBC America Tuesday night two episodes -- previous week's at 8 pm, new episode at 9pm. --- sorta like Journeyman .. .

I noticed Wife Swap Season 3 premieres tonight. It's just a sad, sad commentary when you realize there's not much else on TV currently and you might as well watch Wife Swap again - LOL! We watched Season 1 but somewhere along the line, our Wednesdays became much too busy and we skipped it.
There's a new ER tomorrow night (next week too) and new Desperate Housewives (last one) next Sunday to look forward to. Also a new My Name is Earl and 30 Rock coming up (next week) and of course the best show on TV is starting a short, Season 4 soon.....
LOST!
But it sure feels odd without a slew of regular shows to watch.

We are still waiting to see how the strike will affect the 2008-2009 pilot season. You can't have any new shows if you don't have any scripts to film. . . And you don't know how far in advance storylines and scripts have to be developed before filming starts in August. Throw in that there might not be any actors to start filming in August .. . I think the 2008-2009 season will be in jeopardy soon. .

I wish you were right, but I believe the studio's deadline for next season just passed or is coming. They need the scripts in advance because they do production later in the year. I know that because at SNPP they talked about how if the strike does not end by March, it will likely affect the 20th season. Even if the strike ended today, it would not matter much. January is a time for me to look forward to new shows. However, it is not the case. 24 is up in the air and may not air this season. I look forward to Prison Break, Sarah Connor Chronicles, and KOTH.

I love Wife Swap. It aired on Mondays last season before DWTS premiered in March.
This episode is great.
I'm also watching Power of 10 and Supernanny tonight. Thank GOD there is finally something on TV. The last few weeks have been horrible.
Tomorrow is all repeats of the shows I watch so I'll be devoting most of the night to Iowa Caucus coverage on cable.

We watched Wife Swap in the beginning (guessing it was Season 1?). Tonight I could not talk my family into it. Yes I could have taped it but they were into the Power of 10. Then Myth Busters? I went upstairs by then and read a gasp - book! LOL
I just miss our regular shows......or characters. Way back when I was a huge Friends fan. Never missing an episode and watching all 10 seasons, faithfully. Imagine not having Friends return? I can't even imagine it. I miss the Office, Big Bang Theory (heard rumors it's to be cancelled and that's just a shame, it's our favorite new show of the season!), Chuck (another new favorite of ours) and Journeyman was just hitting its stride. Now it's gone.
It's enough I tell you to just unplug the darn thing.....that is until Jan. 31st. (Lost, baby!). LOL

Funny how oh 10 minutes go by and you stumble upon an article on TV Guide's website, getting psyched for "returning" shows.....LOL Such as Lost (of course) but also Jericho, New Adventures of Christine and other shows....

And they are bringing Monk to network TV . . . I hope they start at the beginning. I haven't seen the first three seasons.

Back to You... figures.

Aside from sports and news when I can, the only 3 shows that I watch regularly are 24, House, and LOST. 24 wasn't supposed to start until January and now thanks to the strike, it won't start at all. LOST will start at the end of the month, but with only 8 episodes. So the only show that I watched each week was House. I gave Back to You a try, and while it's sort of odd, it was funny enough, and I really like Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton, so I enjoyed it. Now they're taking away the only new show I watch! pfft!
Oh yeah, I did watch American Idol for the first time last year. That was tough... it comes on so dang much. I read how some of y'all watch so many shows and I'm a little jealous. lol
I'm so busy during prime time TV, it takes a lot of planning and organizing to be able to watch anything, and I usually only get it done for a Cowboys game. Everything else is recorded on DVR and watched later that night, hopefully.

Missed this earlier... Back to You was cancelled? When? FOX is showcasing it after Idol in March!
I knew about the others.
