Wishing for warmth-anyone else wishing?

#1 Postby Scott Patterson » Fri Jan 11, 2008 1:00 am

-15 again this morning. Cool, but not extreme. Winter is less than half over, but it does get old after so long. Since so many on the forum wish for snow, I thought I could wish for some warmth. Anyone else wishing for warmth as well. January can get old at times. At least it hasn't been as cold as it got last year (knock on wood). What will the rest of the month bring I wonder.

This year (official daily highs and lows are in blue, but it's usually colder at our house near the outskirts of town):

Can anyone send us a nice and toasty 50 degree day? We did have near record heat a few days ago, but it would be nice to see 50.

here in Amarillo, we hit 50 on the nose yesterday (THU). You're more than welcome to it as we should be a bit higher today. :ggreen:

Scott, I'm with ya on this one! Just a few days above 45° would be nice to help melt the ice jam in my driveways!

PLEASE don't get me wrong, I LOVE the moisture, in fact, this is a NORMAL winter (65" of snow thus far) but the temps have been WAY below normal since 4 December 2007....I'm READY for a 50° day!

If it isn't going to snow, I'd prefer constant onshore flow, daytime highs in the upper 70s (25ºC), night time lows in mid 60s (20ºC), enough wind to keep fog from forming, and low clouds burning off by lunch. Until March, when it warms up a little more so beach season can begin.

Cold, dry weather makes my skin itch, and I hate static shocks.

But I can handle just below freezing if it comes with precip...

I don't think I want to live in a place where 15 below is considered "cool but not extreme"..My family down in Miami was breaking out the heating blankets and space heaters and it only went down into the 40s above one night..wimps :D

Yes, but on the plus side there are no tornadoes, hurricanes, floods (unless you live next the river-I don't) or high humidity here, so there are advantages to the weather as well.

It gets cold, sometimes colder than -40F, but unlike tornadoes or hurricanes nothing that's going to be dangerous if you dress up for it.

I do sometimes wish that winter wasn't so looooong here. It's supposed to be cold in winter, but I often get more annoyed when you're scraping the ice off the car in mid-June. It just doesn't seem right.

I hit 46° for the first time since 4 December yesterday...I had my shorts, flip flops and a ice cold margarita sitting on the back deck :ggreen:

NOT! :ggreen: But that 46° FELT like 80° to me! But alas, back to reality....it's 31° at 1130 MST with stiff North breeze of 26 mph gusting to near 30, so yeah, it's COLD again! :cold: :ggreen:

Dang, noaa took away our predicted +30 degree day. :grr:

I was looking foreward to the warmer weather. I wish it would hit freezing, but looks like it won't happen in a long time.
