Been on the road most of the day in the WNC mountains - several observations - there's a little inversion, with the warmest temps high (this morning, the highest temp I encountered was 28 at Balsam Gap - about 11:00 AM). Also - cloud deck thickening very quickly.

I've been away from the computer and haven't had the benefit of radar, but it seems like everything is moving quicker than anticipated.

Thanks for the update- waiting here in Charlotte. Now locally stating up to 4 inches of snow possible before a change to sleet, then probably cold rain.

LOL

I think it's over for good now. All rain and I can gradually see the dusting going away. It was fun while I lasted.

Meanwhile, this is for Saturday Morning! :D

I am mad I cannot be in Atlanta right now where they are currently getting snow! :grrr: Oh well. At least there will be another chance when I am there on Friday night/Saturday morning. Only a 30% chance in the forecast right now, but with luck may be they will raise that percentage some over the next couple of days.. especially if the 18z NAM, which Brent just posted, ends up being right.

EWG, you should have been at my house about an hour ago then. It's a lot closer than Atlanta. It was snowing at a pretty good clip. Unfortunately, it wasn't sticking as my yard is a lake (see USA Weather Tx thread), but it still looked really pretty. I have the NWS LCH number on my cell and I called them to let them know. I took some pics and video... was quite a surprise! Then, I woke up. That's what I get for never getting enough sleep... I dozed off for about 20 minutes in the middle of the afternoon! I don't do naps.

My sister called this afternoon from Buckhead and said it was snowing pretty hard but only just beginning to stick. If only it was Saturday...

Columbia, SC - Big snowflakes falling ticker-tape style here. Yay! Trying to avert the imminent tragedy of a blizzard by catching the flakes on my tongue.
