Just off the top of my head, the last major Atlantic hurricane ot occur during July was 115 mph Bertha in 1996....which later struck North Carolina as a cat-2 (100-105 mph & 974 mb).

The last major hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. during July was way back in 1936, when a small 115 mph cat-3 (963 mb) struck the Florida panhandle on July 30-31.

The only other major hurricane to strike the U.S. during July occurred in 1916...a cat-3 (125-130 mph/ 948 mb) that struck the Mississippi/ Alabama coast on July 4th.....and caused massive flooding throughout the deep south.

There have been cat-2 landfalling hurricanes during July in North Carolina (Bertha)....NE Florida near Cape Canaveral (1926)....and several along the Gulf Coast from the Florida panhandle westward to Texas -- but NO landfalling U.S. hurricane in July has ever been as intense as Audrey (cat-4 140 mph) in June 1957..

Thanks Colin....but I've researched hurricanes and other severe storms since I was 12 years old (almost 30 years). Some guys enjoy hobbies such as building hot rods, collecting coins and stamps, sports (tennis, golf), and other outdoor activities....my passion in life is storms.

Happy 4th of July,
Perry
