Is that the suspect system off the coast of Brazil?

Yes, and it is clearly frontal. Most of the models have backed off on a subtropical-type system, so it appears we won't be seeing a South Atlantic TC this time.

It is in fact a frontal cyclone, but, please, take a look at a disturbance right of the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina in Southern Brazil. Here is the radar loop:

http://www.redemet.aer.mil.br/radar/rad ... 2ifo9t8r43

Go to the bottom of the page to "Animação de Imagens de Radar" (Radar Pictures Animation) and select as a local "Morro da Igreja / SC". It is not frontal, the waters are above average and wind shear seems to be low.

It looks quite unimpressive on visible satellite.

It's like a little piece of convection... with like a cute little swirl... floating off into the distance...

It doesn't really look tropical-ish, though.

It is beginning to look more interesting on IR2, but it's still an extratropical system.

:uarrow: I can't get a hold of any images, but I doubt it looks tropical either.

Sure is a mess. Maybe if it can hang out without dissipating.
