I can't believe they don't have a warning out for Waller...

i'm looking for a warning to be issued in NW Harris county soon. That cell looks to be rapidly increasing in organization and strength.

Severe warning issued for northern Harris county! Large hail is the main threat, but looking at radar, I also spot a powerful-looking outflow boundary capable of perhaps a few wind gusts beyond 40-50mph as it passes by.

Outlfow came through here with a few 30mph gusts but nothing special. It looks like it's pushing SE and will rob the main cell of energy.

The main storm veered northeast and spared my area the hail, but the gusty winds did not miss me and were blowing pretty good out there a few minutes ago. Every now and then I even got a decent gust that tried to make me lose my footing for a second or two. Definitely nothing severe, but still a nice show with some lightning and a few brief 35-40mph wind gusts at times (enough to blow around some garbage, sway the trees, whistle the power lines, and toss a few lawn chair pillows). Considering it is only February 5th, I am just happy that I was able to see some lightning and hear some thunder out of this. Usually we do not get our first good lightning and thunder event until early March. In fact, I remember around this same time last year I was craving a storm...only to be disappointed.

Nothing special here yet. Gusts to 31 mph and some heavy rain with thunder and lightning to our SW. I guess the cap broke since there is definitely some sever around.

Just be thankful we missed the serious weather here in Houston. Lets hope the 2008 hurricane season spares the Upper TX Coast. We have been very fortunate and I feel for everyone who is affected by severe weather. This is what family and friends are all about. I wish I would have done more for the S2K family in 2005.

The gust front is not here yet but the winds are light from the NW and the dewpoint dropping on the weather station. Houston-Galveston dodged a Spring bullet.

We certainly did dodge a bullet again KatDaddy. My heart goes out to ALL that have been and will continue to be affected by this Outbreak.

It's a little windy here, but I haven't even heard any thunder. And by a little windy, I mean... it blew the lid off the garbage can. oooh, scary!
Just more stupid rain! Gotta keep that yard mushy and disgusting, ya know.

Edit: Well, according to local met, we've actually had wind gusts around 40mph. Maybe that's why the garbage can had fallen over earlier. lol I picked it up, ran an errand, got home a bit ago and picked up the lid that had blown off and away a bit. Duh... didn't even think about the wind earlier. I figured it was one of the dogs. Regardless... nothing damaging at all here, thank God. The rain is bad enough.

It looks like our next chance of stronger storms will be around February 13th or 14th (according to the GFS). Could get interesting around here if the model is correct!

Here is a look at the very latest (18z) GFS run...
