Catholic school growing up, with nuns.

I had to know the states, all the cabinet positions by order of presidential succession and the name of the secretary when Carter was President, dates of historical events.

Good preparation if one ever goes on 'Jeopardy!', although to do really well on that show, a college degree in Shakespearian literature is a must.

Few, if any questions asked about geosciences engineering.

Our weather radios aren't working, and this is only the beginning of a very long night of storms.

Statement as of 3:25 PM EST on February 12, 2008

NOAA Weather Radio station wxj-70... broadcasting on a frequency of
162.550 mhz and serving the Melbourne listening area... and station
kih-63... serving the Orlando area on a frequency of 162.475 are both
off the air due to input problems to their transmitters. A return
to service time is not known yet. We apologize for this
inconvienence.

All the information from the NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts can be
found on our web site at: http://www.Weather.Gov/mlb

The SPC has some pretty high numbers for tornado potential, even if they don't mention strong or violent ones...

Windows blown out in New Orleans, LA highrise
Slidell, LA - railroad crossing arm blown over

Boats break loose in New Orleans harbour - as per CNN:

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/ ... index.html

"Several river vessels broke loose in the winds, said Port of New Orleans spokeswoman Cynthia Swain. A freighter docked at the Andry Street Wharf was pushed across the river and collided with two vessels downstream.

The Coast Guard also said a ship was grounded on the riverbank. There were no indications of serious levee damage, and the ship was not sinking, said Chris Bonura, another spokesman for the port.

A woman was killed by a tornado after leaving the Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center in Independence, Louisiana, at the height of the storm against advice, said Sherre Pack-Hookfin, the hospital's acting administrator."

http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2008 ... _metr.html

"Petty Officer Tom Atkeson, a spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard, said the Sisnos Sun, a 180-foot freight ship, broke free of its mooring at the Alabo Street dock shortly after 2:45 p.m., in part because of 33-mph winds. It struck several barges as it drifted downriver and eventually collided with two other ships, the 734-foot W.H. Blount and the Wisla, before crew members were able to regain control, he said.

Atkeson said it can take several minutes for the crew to restart the ship's engines or deploy its anchor. He said it is unclear exactly why the ship broke free from its mooring. "

She was advised, from what I read, to stay inside. Well, maybe she'll be a lesson to others.

Looks like another blast of moisture coming off of the Mexican coast. What should happen with this one?
