We were pretty close to 6 inches here in Hopewell Township just north of Pittsburgh. Then we got some rain and then another dusting to half inch of snow the following day.

NWS Pittsburgh reported 6 inches of snow throughout the entire event. Good job on hitting it on the head Don.

Don, our local weather service office said we got 5" in Harrisburg before it changed over at around 530 pm that evening.

I do have to say I don't know exactly where they took their reading from. It could be the airport or it could be in the city--a distance of about 10 miles (Airport is at Middletown). The towns north of us over the mountain picked up between 4 and 6 inches of snow, and we were on the south edge of that snow burst that set in over us around 2pm and didn't let up until about 5pm.

DAUPHIN COUNTY...
DAUPHIN 6.0 554 PM 2/12
HARRISBURG 5.0 520 PM 2/12
MIDDLETOWN 3.5 529 PM 2/12

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ctp/features/20 ... /index.php

much of the area south and east of us were within the 1"-3" range.
