It is a little breezy outside right now with a few raindrops. Nothing severe up this way, but it definitely is on the chilly side. Temperatures in the lower 50s + breezy winds + rain drops = Brrr.

The 12Z WRF, GFS and Canadian all suggest warm but dry Southwest winds ahead of the next front, and suggest a dry frontal passage. No moisture, so no fun, but the 540 dm thickness line and 850 mb freezing line do briefly get into the Houston area, so a quick shot of cold, possibly with a frost, seems possible behind the front. Checking the AccuWx PPV raw GFS numbers, a 2.2ºC is predicted for IAH, so a frost is certainly possible.

Has anyone else noticed that it has been MUCH cooler than expected today? Hooks airport has only managed to reach as high of 53F so far, and IAH has only risen to 58F. As of 2pm the temperatures have actually fallen from the highs a bit, and Hooks is now at 51F and IAH is at 54F. These numbers are well below the forecasted high of 66F from this morning. Brrr..

Might take the kids to Meyer Park after Mass. Maybe also pick up pre-emergent crabgrass killer, rake the lawn, and apply. I have a nice growing tree, went from about six feet tall to about 30 feet in 7 years, some variety of oak, that loses its leaves intermittently during the winter. It still has some green leaves on it, mostly on the bottom third of the tree.

I might also buy a lawn mower with a bag attachment. Mow the leaves instead of raking them. The current mower is supposedly a mulching mower, but when the grass is tall, as it can be when a rainy period keeps me from mowing, it leaves a line of clumped grass instead of finely cut trimmings.

Might be the leaves on the ground that I only rake about twice a month protecting from the several frosts we've had, but my lawn is still fairly green.

TWC has a 40% chance of t-storms this evening for where I live, NWS has 20%. I trust the NWS better. They seem more accurate, more often.

12Z WRF shows everything forming East of here

Over the past couple of days (for tonight), NWS had 40% for here, then 50%, then back to 40%, and now it's at 30%. That's a pretty good chance it won't rain. :)

I haven't seen the sun yet today though.

So can someone please tell me if they think the rain will be out of the Beaumont area by 9:00 am tomorrow? I have an interview tomorrow and want to know what to expect weather wise.

Those storms are going severe in a hurry. Quite a few warnings are up out west and hail over 1" in diameter is being indicated by radar in some of the cells. Things might get interesting if these storms hold on all the way to Houston.

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather - Cooler Tues/Wed

Wow, I guess there was enough heat today to finally bust the cap. 90's in Austin/San Antonio with record highs, even 99 in Del Rio.

I hope the line can build just a tad NE so I can get some rain. I put fertilizer down Sunday and then realized the sprinkler system is dead....so I need rain to water it in.

Looks like the NE portion of the line is now weakening. Maybe a little rain but that's it for here.
