BTW, since I can't get my own pics uploaded, if you're interested, check this link out to see what today's snowstorm looked like in downtown Denison.

From FW NWS office, storm totals across North Texas. Looks like Sherman and Lake Kiowa came in with 9" to take the cake as top snow getter of the day. I live between Sherman and Pottsboro, where 6" fell officially.

Johnny, for chasing snow, looks like you hit the bullseye in Sherman. Congrats and enjoy.

Looks like a light mix is approaching Austin. Not sure how much of this is actually reaching the ground.

It sure looks like it is getting heavier very fast.... Lot's of yellows showing up on the radar now and spreading fast..

We might have something brewing with the little energy moving out of mexico hooking up with the upper energy moving down from the panhandle.. I Have my fingers crossed...

Definitely. I'm going to be up for awhile doing some work, so I can see if this thing actually materializes.

Maybe its just more "-removed-" on my part, but it appears that a second axis of precipitation could be trying to develop with the activity west of SA and Austin and the activity in SE Oklahoma.

Activity is increasing as per the Intellicast composite and if you draw a line between these two areas, well, it appears to line up. Perhaps it will fill in overnight.

Also noticed more precip building along the lower Texas Gulf Coast, so perhaps this winter storm isn't finished with Texas just yet.

Light rain now falling at my house north of houston...

Cloud tops over southeast New Mexico starting to cool down as well...

Thunderstorms breaking out near browsville..

Looks like the snow is starting to back build down from oklahoma..

Nice twist in the atmosphere east of midland with cloud tops cooling..

I wonder if something may In fact be happening that was not really forecasted....?

I notice that light snow is currently being reporting in Dallas and Waco. Hopefully all those that missed out on yesterday's event are getting in on it now. According to the DFW NWS graphic, eastern parts of Dallas could see up to 2-3" from this newly developing snow, and up to an inch could fall as far south as Waco and Centerville.

What excites me is the fact that the band near Waco and Dallas is building further southward...

http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/Conus/so ... e_loop.php

http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radbl ... g_off=9999

...This may mean that we will see a second round of precipitation after the one currently moving in from my west and southwest. And since this new round is probably a few hours away, it will likely arrive at better timing for possible snow or sleet here in north Houston. Currently dewpoints are in the mid 30s and temperatures are near 39-40F, but given a few more hours to work with, both of those numbers should fall further. Also, the colder upper-level air is also going to be getting into the mix around sunrise, and once that happens, things could get fun.

Supposedly it is snowing in College Station right now via a report from a professional met who lives up there (according to another weather source). That is definitely encouraging to hear! It gives the rest of SE TX so much more hope. :)

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
409 AM CST FRI MAR 7 2008

.DISCUSSION...
VORT ROUNDED THE BASE OF THE H5 TROF WEST OF US OVERNIGHT AND IS
CURRENTLY MOVING THRU THE AREA. SO FAR ONLY SPOTTY -RA HAS BEEN
REPORTED BUT FCST THICKNESS VALUES AND SOUNDING DATA INDICATE
CONDITIONS WILL BECOME MORE SUPPORTIVE OF LIQUID PRECIP
TRANSITIONING TO THE FROZEN VARIETY SOON...MAINLY NORTH OF A
COLUMBUS TO CLEVELAND LINE. LEADING EDGE OF THE S/W CURRENTLY
MOVING ACROSS IS MOVING QUICKLY AND HAVE DOUBTS WE`LL SEE MUCH
FROM IT. WHAT WE`RE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT IS THE WRAP AROUND AND
ASSOCIATED -SN SEEN STRETCHING FROM THE DALLAS AREA TO JUST NW OF
CLL. SOME OF THIS WILL PROBABLY SKIRT THE NRN PART OF THE
CWA...ESP NE ZONES THIS MORNING. THINK THE NAM12 HAS A PRETTY GOOD
HANDLE ON THE SITUATION EXCEPT THAT IT INITIALIZED WITH WITH
AVAILABLE MOISTURE LEVELS TOO HIGH (BASED ON GPS DATA) AND HENCE
HIGHER SNOWFALL ACCUMS. WOULDN`T BE SURPRISED IF EXTREME NE ZONES
(GENERALLY N OF A MADISONVILLE-LIVINGSTON LINE) SEE SOME
ACCUMULATIONS OF 0.5-1.5 INCHES IN GRASSY AREAS, ETC. NOT TOO
CONCERNED ABOUT ROADS/ICE SINCE GROUND IS WARM AND DO NOT PLAN ON
ISSUING ANY ADVISORIES ATTM.

Looks like the widespread changeover to snow is starting to happen. Snow is currently flying in College Station, Hearne, NW Austin, Waco and many places in between. It looks like northern parts of Houston, Conroe, Huntsville, etc could be next!

So where exactly is the low located? Seems like I see a little swirl around Austin or just north.

OK. GETTING REPORTS OF SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN THE CLL AREA AND THE
HEAVIER STUFF IS STILL OFF TO THE WEST. ALTHOUGH STILL DO NOT
EXPECT VERY MANY TRAVEL PROBLEMS SINCE THE ROADS ARE STILL
WARM...FEEL IT IS BEST TO GO WITH A WINTER WX ADVISORY. WILL BE
WORKING ON IT NEXT. DETAILS ARE IN THE HAZARD SECTION BELOW
(GENERALLY NORTH OF A BELLVILLE TO LIVINGSTON LINE - NOT INCLUDING
HOUSTON METRO). UPDATED FCST & ADVSY OUT SOON. BTW...GALVESTON PD
REPORTING SOME FLURRIES ON THE ISLAND... 47

Flurries in Galveston? Something makes me very suspicious of that report.
