Many interesting speakers and topics were covered during SeCAPS 2008.
I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Bill Proenza, dirctor, NWS Southern Region. He's one sharp cookie and we're fortunate to have him serving our region.
Dr. Phil Klotzbach gave us a preview of his April forecast update:
analogue years 53,56,84,99,2000.
conditions-warm water of Spain, Portugal,West Africa, low pressures in Atlantic. He discussed a new website that provides probabilities of landfall down to the county level. http://www.e-transit.org/hurricane.
Chris David White NWS Huntsville, AL discussed his study of investigating the nature of the geographic distribution of hurricane tracks within the Atlantic basin since 1900, given the discreet, sequential anomalies of SSTs within the NINO 1+2 rewgion.
All in all it was an excellent symposium.
