Sarah Connor, Knight Rider in, Jericho” Out for Fall

It’s a case of good news/bad news for genre fans today. The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd says a couple of genre-shows will be back next year while a fan-favorite has gone the way of the dodo bird.
First the bad news. Hibberd reports that despite fan protests, “Jericho” fans should enjoy the final two episodes airing this week and next as it’s likely all the series will get from CBS.
“CBS notes that the show gains from DVR viewership and online viewing, but after its performance the past two weeks, most doubt the citizens of ‘Jericho’ will live to fight another season,” Hibberd said.
Onto the good news. Last week, we reported that actor Thomas Dekker said that it looked like “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” was getting a pick-up for a second season. Indications at FOX are looking better these days. The ratings for the season finale were up and could be the factor that throws it over the top to bring the show back. Add to that a fourth installment of the film franchise which is on the way for 2009, and FOX could be looking to create some synergy between the home-theater and the movie-theater screens similiar to last year’s “The Simpsons Movie.”
Also on the good news side for mustang fans is news that NBC is in negotitations for a full-season of “Knight Rider.” The two-hour backdoor pilot movie generated high ratings for the Peacock network and it looks like a full series is a sure thing.
Riding the bubble is CBS’s “Moonlight.” The series could be back next year or it could be headed for the cancelation pile.

Re: Jericho
I'm not surprised at all, the ratings have been terrible, but CBS didn't do it any favors by putting it in the Tuesday Night death slot(nothing has succeeded on CBS Tuesdays at 10 in 5 years), and the long hiatuses.

From TV Guide, Jericho is officially cancelled. The upcoming March 25th episode will be the series finale.

This hasn't come as a surprise or shock though, I knew the ratings were lower than they expected. There are just a slew of shows over the years that my family and I have watched, that didn't deserve their cancellations, shows that had devoted followings but their ratings might not have been high enough for the networks to notice.
I still miss:
Studio 60
Journeyman
Joey (many problems with Season 1, Season 2 was just getting good and NBC just yanked it).
My husband misses:
Arrested Development
I know many miss a ton of other shows......it's just a shame when shows are not saved, somehow.
I'm not expecting an easy answer, just venting......
A new cable channel that features reruns of forgotten shows might be a good idea! When I was a kid, my family and I really got into a quirky, odd show called Coronet Blue. Then it was abruptly cancelled. My mom said for years - I miss that show! The star was Frank Converse, for anyone who's a baby boomer like me....LOL

It's over now. The fat lady has sung. No famous Jake Green quote last night, that would be when he said "nuts" in Season 1's Finale. Ah, but this was the series finale, big difference. All I know is I feel somewhat sad that this show didn't make it. But then again there are so many shows that seem to be on thin ice from the get go. While others seem to have the green light, from the get go. Example? Studio 60 vs 30 Rock. I rest my case....
Anyway, I watched until the bitter end and now this Jericho TV watching phase is over. On to my regular shows (I will not take on any new shows, repeat....LOL)
I had to say goodbye to my Jericho Jack, you all know I'm a diehard Lost fan, (uh that would be Jake, LOL). And no his character didn't die....but articles and hints I had been reading led me to believe that something terrible happens to Jake. And it didn't.
One final word from the finale - Texas!
Never thought I'd be happy to see Texan soil (fictionally speaking......).

Re: Jericho
Jericho got horrible treatment from CBS, I have to say that. I started off loving the show last season, but then it took a 4-month long hiatus and when it came back, a lot of the viewers didn't(including me). It was a miracle it even came back this year in the first place, and then CBS put it in the Tuesday death slot(almost a year after the last episode) with a horrific and very incompatitable lead-in, so whatever.
I have fears of new shows that were taken off by the strike this year and won't be back til Fall.

Re: Jericho
Am I the lonly one who heard them say something about "and on next weeks show" last night. I know it has been cancelled, etc. but I swear they said that.

Re: Jericho
I wrote CBS and told them I will not be watching any new shows this next season on CBS. Don't Tread On Me!

David - no, that was not your imagination. I heard it too but of course promos for next week's episode didn't air. I just assumed that always followed just shown episodes and they hadn't removed it. It wasn't playing fair though, since this was the last episode - ever.
Brent - you are correct, CBS did not treat Jericho right.
Cookiely - I like your "Don't Tread on Me" bit.....I think I will write the network today and borrow your idea, if you don't mind. When Gray noticed the battered flag and proudly strung it up on the flag pole, I do believe that was a message for fans. Jericho is gone now but not without a brave fight.
Sigh......we're still watching Eli Stone but each week as I invest more time into my favorite characters on this new show, I just know it's a goner.
I never used to feel this way towards new shows - I'd tune in, check them out, with excitement and anticipation for the next episode. Now if you like a new show, you make sure you catch all the episodes because the networks just seem to yank them, at will and then give them new timeslots and you can't find them anymore.....
