Also thanks for that map Hurakan! It is showing where the low
and fronts are, and I was wondering about that today. So as the
low moves NE the warm front will lift north.
I think the cold front could produce severe weather as it crosses
south florida later tonight. The highest risk of severe would
be Sarasota to Melbourne southward, because that is where
the warm front could lift north over allowing the cold
front to generate strong storm cells. Today's rain has stabilized
the atmosphere so the storms may not get too strong, but some
40 mph gusts and heavy rain/lightning are likely. Because the rain
stabilized the air mass I do NOT see 60-70 mph severe thunderstorms, but
I do see som 40 mph heavy thunderstorms with lightning over south
florida tonight. Of course if the low strengthens then the winds
will gust to higher speeds so stay tuned.

It continues to look very dark to the south of saint petersburg
as an area of storms gets ready to move in around sarasota.
Also there is heavy training rain over southeast florida
southeast of lake ockeechobee: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/mfl

A warm front will continue to move northward from the Florida Straits into South Florida. Showers and a few thunderstorms...especially south of the Tampa Bay area...may produce locally heavy rains with the potential for minor urban flooding this evening. Some lingering rains will continue over south Florida as the boundary will move slowly away from the region. Then an unseasonably cool high pressure will build in and bring temperatures to 5 to 10 degrees below normal by Monday afternoon.

Fair dry weather is expected for the long term period as high pressure and a dry seasonable airmass settles over the area. Temperatures will be a few degrees below normal for Monday and Tuesday as high pressure moves into the southeast United States bringing a cooler drier airmass into the region. Then as the high moves out into the Atlantic Ocean the low level flow will become more east southeast with temperatures climbing to near to slightly above normal for Wednesday and Thursday.

Some very cold air for late march will move in tomorrow and tomorrow
night. Lows will be in the 30s for most of florida. That is very cold
for march. Also, starting later today, strong northwest to north winds
of 30 mph (25 knots) with gusts to 40 mph will bring in the colder air. It
will get very windy due to the pressure gradient.
