Looks like more rain for the south

#1 Postby timNms » Fri Jul 04, 2003 11:57 pm

Here's a bit of the discussion from the National Weather Service in Jackson, MS:

NEW MOS GUIDANCE ALREADY IN THE LIKELY/CATEGORICAL RANGE
AND STRONGER SLY FLOW IN THE LOWER LEVELS SHOULD FEED THINGS NICELY.
EXPECT SUNDAY TO BE LESS ACTIVE HOWEVER MONDAY OR TUESDAY COULD
RETURN THE FAVOR AS MODELS NOW PUSHING UPPER RIDGE AXIS FARTHER N
AND BRINGING THE CARIBBEAN TUTT LOW TOWARD THE NWRN GULF OF MEXICO.
WILL HAVE TO REVIEW THIS SCENARIO MORE IN NEXT FORECAST.

I woke up to more thunderstorms this morning and under a flash flood watch until 7 pm. We have had enough rain to last a while and I do not see an end to this anytime real soon. If any storms tropical in nature were to enter the GOM and head this way right now, we would be in some big trouble.

Tim, all I have to say is -- "thank goodness YESTERDAY was the 4th" :D

If it were today, I'd have gotten very wet at the parade....because it's been showering off and on since 9:30 a.m. (0.40" fallen this morning).

Oh well...at least it's cool (only 73° at 12:50 p.m.) -- better than 94° with a heat index of 102° (which I'm certain is coming later this month....it's just a matter of time :D
