Hurricane Floyd Flooding Photos Requested!

#1 Postby brunota2003 » Fri Apr 11, 2008 1:28 pm

Alright, I know we have some people here that experienced Hurricane Floyd first hand. Do you guys have any photos of the flooding caused in the towns of Pollocksville, Kinston, Snow Hill, Greenville, or Belhaven?

If so, the NWS in Newport wants them!

Wanted Pictures from Hurricane Floyd

The National Weather Service in Newport, NC is in the process of installing high water markers for the towns of Pollocksville, Kinston, Snow Hill, Greenville, and Belhaven. The signs will be installed in well-trafficked areas that were affected by Hurricane Floyd. Local residents who lived through Hurricane Floyd will not soon forget its effects, but the signs will raise awareness of the dangers of flooding for new residents and future generations.
The National Weather Service-Newport is seeking pictures of flooding from Hurricane Floyd in the above mentioned towns. If you or someone you know has pictures relevant to this study that they would be willing to share, please email them to: sarah.jamison@noaa.gov , or mail them to:
NWS Newport
Attn: Sarah Jamison
533 Roberts Road
Newport, NC 28570

The bulletin has been up on the NWS site for a while now, but figured I'd pass it along.

Maybe they figured it was finally time to replace the old ones? Who knows, but there it is. Hopefully some here have some photos.
