I have a countdown on my desktop as a Vista widget.

If I set it to countdown 'til June 1st, it says 46 days. If I change it to May 31st, it says 45 days.

As of this post, the title for the thread says 44 days. Does hurricane season start on May 30th and I didn't know it?

What happens is that the countdown is set to change every night at 8:00 PM EDT or 00:00 UTC zulu time.

Won't be long before we see those invests start to show up...also in terms of the past we start to see the numbers of tropical cyclones recorded increase steadily from this point...indeed TS Ana formed on the 21st of May.

Here I am. I know I am boring I only come around through the hurricane season .

I have Storm2K set to favorites through hurricane season.

I am a little early this year.

I remember last year how dry it was here in Sarasota fl till it seemed end of summer!

Hope we get early rains this year. Any signs of that?

HI everyone!! :D

I was just gonna come in here and mention that. Remember May 15th at midnight there is a (smaller) party for the EPAC.

Anyone knows the date when NOAA will release their 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook? I want to add the date to the list of important dates prior to June 1.

NOAA may release it during the National Hurricane Preparedness Week which is between May 25-May 31.

May has 31 days, and even if the season starts at 0Z, we are still more than 30 days, aren't we?

The month of May always always has the models trying to develop an early season system in the SW Caribbean, How many days until the first phantom storm on the models shows up??
