Finally good news for me..

#1 Postby feederband » Tue Apr 22, 2008 10:26 am

After 3 1/2 years after trying to get on Social Security Disability I finally got the letter saying I was approved...If it wasn't for Long Term Disability Insurance I had through my employer I would have lost everything along time ago...If your company offers it ...Get it...I can't stress this enough...If spider bite can completly changed my life who knows whats waiting out there for you...

I remember a nasty aggressive big brown spider that lunged at me once when I lived in Orlando, FL 32813. Back in 1983 or 1984.

I seriously had to jump back. I was standing on a sidewalk.

Florida has a lot of nasty critters.

I didn't even get to see the little bastard that hit me...

I got bit by a Brown Recluse Spider…Went to the doctor got all the normal treatments…In about a month it was looking all healed up with a ugly scar…The wound was still digging in and eventually got in to the blood stream…Past out at work and woke up 8 days later in ICU…My heart, liver, and right kidney failed…Liver and kidney back to normal…Heart is shot…It was running at about 11%…Its back up to 35%…I take over 15 pills a day and I know have a Implanted Difibulator that has gone off 15 times since I have had it …Which means it has saved me 15 times..One time though it cause my old back surgery to come apart and a few months ago I had to get it redone and now I have to walk with a cane and have lost the use of my right foot..

I use to like spiders...I kill them all now..

feederband I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm glad that the SSA finally came through for you. Why did it take them so long to approve you?

Right now that is the average in Florida. 75% get turned down the first time thats 6 months..60% of those get turned down at the reconsideration phase that another 6 months...Then it takes up to 35 more months to get to see the judge where 80% of all denials get apporved...Great system huh....

Some states like California could take over 5 years..

In Texas, generally during the daytime, when advertising rates are lower or more disabled people are home, ads for lawyers specializing in social security disability cases run a lot, I guess because a lot of people can't get their benefits without professional help.

No my lawer said if you see a judge in Florida without a lawer the judge will offer you a chance to reschedule and go get one...The judge has to have all the evidence possible to overturn the goverments decision...The lawer will get all the info that he knows the judge needs to overturn it...Without the evidence the judge can not find you disabled...The lawer in a SSDI case can only make no more than $5300.00 and that has to come out of your back payments...Which is actually a good deal...My back pay since Nov 2004 will be about $120000.00 which most of that will go back to my LTD insurance but they will pay the lawer fee and I still will get about 20% of that plus about $1000.00 more a month..

Whoa! I know people who have been bit by those things and had problems - but not to that extent. Sounds like you are one lucky guy to have made it through that mess!

Glad you finally got SSA. Sounds like they are real charmers to work with.

I am so glad you got the SSA. Feederband. My husband is also on it because of his knees. He has to use a cane to walk and has now been diagnosed with non insulin dependent diabetes.
