Good luck to your father, David... if you don't mind me asking; why does he go away for "short trips"?

Temperatures above 75 degrees are apparently warm spells by southern California standards.

Have a great Sunday, everyone. :)

Another fire in Arizona...to the SE of Prescott about an hour north of Phoenix. Hot temps continue here in the Valley with 111 in my backyard yesterday. We have our eyes on this one as it too is in an area not far from structures. It is known as the Walker fire in case you hear about it on the news.

Emma and family head back to San Diego in a couple hours. They will have the day to recuperate there. We enjoyed their company...let me know if you'd like a photo.

David..hope your father makes the trip ok too.

Enjoy your Sunday folks...

Morning,

As Steve mentioned, yet another fire to contend with, this one is burning in the beetle kill areas, a tender box indeed, let's say a little prayer for these folks in Prescott.

Had a very interesting evening, the surprise BDAY for Debbie Paxon was a HIT! We had a long talk, business of course, with her husband Jim Paxon, we are working on a thinning project along Hwy 260 and Buck Springs Rd (the entry in the Pinetop Lakes Country Club Steve) anyways, the Aspen fire came up in conversation, NOT GOOD FOLKS, not good at all. Jim said there is NOTHING man can do to stop this fire now, no matter how hard they try, it's in the fires hands now.

Boy.......I'm just FULL of good news this morning huh? Sheeesh, I need to go drive a bucket of balls, make it a great day would ya?

MORNING EVERYONE!!!

It feels great to be back home and to visit the Front Porch again. :)

We had a wonderful time at the Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival. It was a record crowd!! I can't wait to go back in September because Rhonda Vincent and the Rage will be there!! :multi:

It was a hot weekend for sure with highs in the lower 90's and heat indices around 105-110º.

But now I am home and it looks like we may have something tropical on our hands. :o

I need to go catch up on everything I missed. It is great to be back. Sorry to hear about the new fire, but it sounds like Dakota is doing really well which is wonderful news! :D

Oh great, another fire. And no I am not being sarcastic either. :o Not what you need at all. :( Hope you all stay safe Dennis and Steve. :(

Can't wait for Mike to come home tomorrow. :D We should all throw a party for him. ;)

We actually had low clouds this morning. :( But it is warming up nicely now. In reference to Tom's post: It is a lot warmer now than we were a few weeks ago when we had nothing but the @#&*( marine layer. (but I like it)

Tomorrow is back to work day for many of us. I hope we make it. Can you? I hope I can.

Let's monitor the wx, lots brewing it looks like! Joshua

Just thought I would drop in and share a surprise with ya'll. This afternoon as I was out feeding Mocha the doorbell. I ran upstairs and I was shocked to see Jessica. You may not remember her, but she was in a car accident last spring. She is doing wonderful! :) She has some face disfiguration, but is otherwise looking and feeling great!

Just thought I would share the update here instead of opening a new topic.

Ciao,

Well

#1391 Postby Aslkahuna » Sun Jul 06, 2003 5:51 pm

along the immediate coast of California, 75F IS a warm spell since the water temperatures are somewhat chilly compared to the East Coast (from high 60's in the south to near 50F and even into the upper 40's from Point Reyes to Cape Mendocino) in the Summer. If you want Summer in CA you can go to two areas-the Deserts or the Central Valley. Places like Red Bluff (up north), Sacramento, Modesto, Fresno and Bakersfield could teach Easterners a lot about coping with heat believe me-only the Desert SW gets consistently hotter than the Central Valley of California. BTW we have been running in the mid to high 90's and occasionally the low 100F range here in Sierra Vista since the middle of June.

About the Aspen

#1392 Postby Aslkahuna » Sun Jul 06, 2003 6:04 pm

and what Jim Paxon said, my son and I were saying the same thing as early as the 2nd and especially on the evening of the 4th when I took that photo of the Plume from Sierra Vista. I've seen enough wildfires and know enough about their behavior to know when you see a plume like that after sundown, the situation is grim to say the least. My son was saying that they already have the plans set as to where the initial fireline in NE Tucson will be and the backup. The worst case scenario would be to suddenly get into a high downslope wind pattern that could send flying embers into the urban area which could torch the Eucalyptus trees in town. When a Euc blows up in flame, a Ponderosa Pine is like a fire cracker next to a nuke-as the Aussies well know. We shall see, we need help out here mainly from the Rain Gods, but they aren't even talking to the Kahuna :(

Good evening Folks!

Had a wonderful weekend - JR coming home Thursday was a great way to start off the holiday! However, he's been out and about visiting with his friends, so he's barely been here. We took him out to a Japanese restaurant tonight called the IronMoto. We had the chef cook the food right in front of us. Very entertaining and filling!!

I'll be in my Arizona friends neck of the woods - ever so briefly on August 14 and 17. That's when I'm flying out to see my father and both trips take me via Phoenix. The trip there I have a 2 hour layover, the trip back I have alittle over an hour. At least I can say I've been to AZ! :D The total fare is pretty cheap compared to what I've paid in the past - $370! I usually paid about $500 roundtrip in the past. I bought these through Travelocity.

I certainly hope we'll be hearing some good weather news for you guys out there so the fires can be squelched.

I have tomorrow off too, so I don't have to worry about setting my alarm clock tonight!

Everyone have a great evening!

Howdy everyone! :D

I have come in for a break in mowing the lawn. 50% down, 50% more to go. I needed to come in get a drink. It is so humid outside. :o

Hope everyone is enjoying this Monday. If not, it will get better -- only 5 days until Saturday. ;)

One quick stop by.........we've been on a search since 1800 hrs last night, searched till 0130, took a snooze from 0140 till 0400, back on the track at 0430 till just a few short minutes ago. We had to come home to shower and catch another nap under A/C, the search area is at 5600', temps around 103°-104°.

Don't know when I'll be back online, TTFN!

Well, I'm back.... And I had a wonderful weekend. :D :D I was camping at Iola Pines Campground in Iola, WI. My best friends grandparents and parents own the campground. I'm not going into that much detail, we all had our fair share of *harmless* fun. Thank goodness my friends don't post on storm2k...they'd tell you interesting stories about yours truly! (you may need earplugs) :o :o I could deal without my allergies to pine, but oh well...its life.

Raine, glad everything is going smoothly with Dakota! That poor boy has been through a ton in his childhood!

FYI....I found out last wednesday that my car is a hazard to drive...literally! Instead of spending $2000+ in repairs within the next few days, my family is like....that's definitely NOT worth it! This is what needs to be done.... least 2 tie rods on the front axel, 4 tires, front end alignment, shocks, and a tyranny flush! So, my $400 car is no longer driveable! :D :D :D I'm not fixing it! Time for a better dependable car! Thankfully, my grandmother loaned me her plymouth acclaim, so I'm driving that til I find a newer used car.

Glad everyone had a wonderful weekend. :D :D

Hottest week of the year will not help Dennis OR the firefighters near Tucson. Wishing the best for both situations.

Anticipate a push to 115 by Wednesday or Thursday. Staying around 100 after sunset tonight. In the old days in northern Illinois, I would roll down my windows after dark and cruise the streets. No rolling windows down here after dark!

Speaking of old stompin' grounds...Rockford IL was featured on TWC for the massive amount of tree damage early morning on the 5th. All those I know who live there are fine...but most lost power or trees or branches or some of each. Claiming winds of near 100 mph. Remember an early morning storm like that when I lived there.

Hope all are fine. Have a good Tuesday.

Good Morning!

And a FINE ONE at that.......the girl, found, alive, a little worse for wear but non the less, alive  A WMAT Game and Fish officer is credited for finding this young lady alive but seriously dehydrated, a sprained ankle, Native American MedEvac flew her to ShowLow yesterday evening around 1940 hrs in serious but stable condition. We left the house around 1730, the area where she was lost is about a hours drive from here, we went to the ICP for a briefing when a call came over the radio!

ANYWAYS........boy, talk about SLEEP  Remember my post about camping? I sure could have used the *comforts of home* night before last  Hmmmm...........I'll take my *crow* BBQ'd over mesquite please :P Guess this ol boy ain't as young as he use to be, ya reckon??

Steve, I thought I was gonna DIE in temps of 101°, I don't know how in HADES you guys handle the heat SHEEESH! Take care my friend........BTW, "GREAT" photo of you poolside!

That's nuff outta me, ya know, I LOVE coffee but that *Cowboy Coffee* at the Incident Command Post  Reckon I like my Gevalia too much! Make it a great day!
