Over 75 dbz on the Dyess AFB radar base reflectivity. Now, maybe Wall-Cloud knows the magic VIL of the day just South of the AMA and LBB NWS CWA, and can dial that up and tell us if that is baseball, softball or basketball sized hail.

I still don't know if basketball sized hail has ever occurred anywhere on earth. I read something about it in a mag once but I never found anything like that on the Internet. If it did happen once, it would;

- sound like hell out there
- Can kill every animal outside and humans
- Destroy every locomotive
- Damage your roof
- Every window broken if there are high winds

Well, we need to think of a sport that uses a ball bigger than a softball but smaller than a beach ball.

Maybe the sirens are tied in to the NWS. And they want to test some new feature in their sirens in Scotts Bluff.

We don't have sirens down here, but where my mom and some of my brothers and sisters live, in Dallas and Tarrant counties (DFW area) they have sirens that go off during tornado warnings.

I used to call and advise if bad weather is headed that way, but you can hear those sirens over the phone, so I try to call if the weather looks really bad, but is still back in Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker or Wise counties, depending on which way they are headed.

Models and the SPC suggest May 2-3 could be the next big potential, mainly in the central and southern Plains.

The first week of May always seems to have something major.

Today i thought about starting a poll. But as to "climate change" forecasts are pretty tough.

Serious reports out of Suffolk. One dead and at least 200 injured. Damage sounds EF-3. Photos show a good sized tornado.

I bumped the wrong thread.

Day 4 (Wednesday)

ZCZC SPCSWOD48 ALL
ACUS48 KWNS 040846
SPC AC 040846

DAY 4-8 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0346 AM CDT SUN MAY 04 2008

VALID 071200Z - 121200Z

...ACTIVE SEVERE WEATHER DAY ON TAP FOR WEDNESDAY IN PARTS OF THE
CNTRL/SRN PLAINS TOWARD THE MID-SOUTH...

MEDIUM RANGE GUIDANCE EXHIBITS HIGH PREDICTABILITY WITH RUN-TO-RUN
CONSISTENCY QUITE GOOD IN HANDLING OF THE BAJA UPR LOW AS IT EJECTS
INTO THE SRN PLAINS ON WEDNESDAY. THOUGH NOT OF PREMIUM SPRINGTIME
QUALITY...LOW-LEVEL GULF MOISTURE WILL BE IN PLACE AHEAD OF THIS
SYSTEM. ORGANIZED SEVERE TSTMS WILL BE LIKELY...DEVELOPING FROM
SCNTRL KS INTO CNTRL OK WEDNESDAY AFTN. THESE STORMS WILL RAPIDLY
MOVE ENEWD INTO THE MO/AR OZARKS DURING THE EVENING AND PROBABLY
BACKBUILD SWWD INTO THE ARKLATEX OVERNIGHT. GIVEN STRENGTH OF THE
MID-LEVEL WIND FIELD...A FAIRLY MODEST SEVERE EVENT IS EXPECTED TO
UNFOLD...THOUGH WEAKENING PHASE OF THE SYSTEM MAY TEMPER THE
POTENTIAL MAGNITUDE OF THE EVENT SOMEWHAT.

BEYOND DAY 4...GUIDANCE BECOMES QUITE VARIED...WITH PREDICTABILITY
TOO LOW TO CONSIDER HIGHLIGHTING SVR WEATHER POSSIBILITIES.

..RACY.. 05/04/2008

Sounds like a 30H day in the SWODY3

Wednesday still looking very interesting indeed, today and Tuesday looking like slight risks as well, though tornadoes won't be that common I think but there will be severe weather about.
Still think it may be worth while making a new thread?

NWS Dodge City needs to take a close look at that cell near Garden City right now, SVR out with it but I see two areas of rotation and a slight hook.
