The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for the entire North Texas region until 9:00AM CDT.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:A SIGNIFICANT FROST IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY MORNING
AS A COLD HIGH PRESSURE CENTER SETTLES INTO THE REGION.
TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE 30S ACROSS MUCH OF NORTH TEXAS
TONIGHT DUE TO VERY LIGHT WINDS AND CLEAR SKIES.

WHILE AIR TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN ABOVE FREEZING AT MOST
LOCATIONS...FROST CAN FORM AT AIR TEMPERATURES AS WARM AS
38 DEGREES UNDER THE RIGHT CONDITIONS.

FROST CAN DAMAGE OR KILL COLD SENSITIVE VEGETATION THAT HAS NOT
BEEN PROTECTED. RESIDENTS SHOULD PROTECT ANY TENDER PLANTS THAT
HAVE RECENTLY BLOOMED OR BEEN PLANTED. COVERING THEM WITH A LIGHT
BLANKET OR MOVING THEM BENEATH A COVERED PORCH SHOULD PROVIDE
ENOUGH PROTECTION FROM THIS LATE SEASON COLD SPELL.

Yes, many of us North Texans are blindsighted by this weather event. A Strong cold front blew through the region late Sunday droping highs down to the 60s and lows near 40 with the mid 30s in the suburbs. Otherwise, we'll see a slow warm-up this week with a slight chance of thunderstorms on Thursday.

Once again, the North Texas region is waking up to a chilly start, but not as cold as it was on Monday Morning. The current readings are in the mid to upper 40s, however highs will slowly climb to the 70s and 80s throughout the next few days. We also have a chance of thunderstorms on THursday, but I don't think we're anticipating anything severe like last week.

The National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #204 for persons in Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, Wise, and Young Counties until 10:00PM CDT. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that conditions are favorable for severe weather in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for any threatening weather conditions and watch or listen for later statements and possible warnings from their local media sources, NOAA Weather Radio or the National Weather Service online.

What was thought to be a less severe event turns out to be a repeat from last week. Especially on this particular storm that formed in Stephens and Palo Pinto Counties. When the cell reached Mineral Wells, it has produced enough rotation to prompt a Tornado Warning for eastern Palo Pinto and all of Parker County. A tornado did form in Aledo, however with the loss of Daytime heating, the storm slightly weakened but still has packed a powerful punch as it merged with a line of thunderstorms along a cold front. Although no more tornado warnings were issued, some cities like Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Irving, Dallas, and Plano went ahead and sounded the emergency sirens due to the intense winds and hail almost the size of golf balls to tennis balls...in fact, some areas got covered with so much hail, it looks more like an ice storm. Following the severe weather event was a threat of flash flooding as the storm was slow moving, dumping up to 2 inches of rain in some suburban areas of Dallas, Ellis, Kaufman, and Tarrant Counties.

As for the weekend forecast, we will see another mild day, however we will see a warm up from Saturday on. The weather will remain clear for the National Weather Service to survey the damage, especially in Palo Pinto and Parker Counties and determine if in fact a tornado has touched down.

Monday: Image 84°F | 68°F
Tuesday: Image 85°F | 68°F
Wednesday: Image 83°F | 66°F

Remember folks, if a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued and emergency sirens sounded, treat the situation as if you're under a Tornado Warning.

This is gonna be another dreary week from Tuesday to Friday Night for North Texas, but will we have a repeat from the past 2 weeks? Highly unlikely judging from the rain chances. The week will start out mostly cloudy, but don't put aside your sunglasses yet.

It seems the severe weather events come in Threes. Tonight, all of North Texas is under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms. It'll be a much lighter situation with large hail, damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall as a cold front slowly moves in. There will be additional chances of thunderstorms from Thursday to Sunday. A few of those storms could be severe with heavy rainfall.

Well, it seems we had a few more twisters this month. Last night, a cluster of thunderstorms north of Abilene had a history of producing tornadoes. However, a developing cluster of storms that developed south of Mineral Wells merged with that supercell, it no longer posed a tornadic threat. But, the same supercell has produced some rotation between Hood and Parker Counties...only for a short time anyway. Otherwise, destructive winds of up to 80 MPH winds, hail, deadly cloud-to-ground lightning, and flash flooding pounded the region.

After a nice (and wet) weekend, many North Texans are waking up to a chilly morning. In the past 24 hours, 2 cold fronts blew through the region taking aling aseveral chances of rain and thunderstorms...but mostly rain. None of which reached severe limits nor raised flash flooding threats. We'll see a rapid warm-up through Thursday, however, another cooldown is expected on Friday.

As the week progresses, the temperatures get higher and higher by the day, but on Friday, highs will be knocked down to the upper 70's as a cool front comes in. The good news is that we have a very slim chance of a thunderstorm, so that shouldn't dampen your weekend plans.

I like to start off by saying Happy Cinco De Mayo. Hopefully it will be an excellent one, but to those who are planning their outdoor activities after school or work, take them indoors, because there will be some showers and thunderstorms throughout Wednesday. The only severe threat today will be flash flooding in low-lying areas...however, the severe weather threat will increase as we get into Wednesday. By Thursday, the weather is gonna be clearing and getting warmer.

Those of you that live in most of North Texas this morning, take your umbrella or rain coats with you, there's a line of thunderstorms from Northwest of Bowie to just west of Mineral Wells, with a strong thunderstorm in that southern tip of that line. There was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Palo Pinto County, but that has since 6:15AM CDT expired...However, that doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet.

It's Hump Day, and it seems the weather will get worse before it gets better. There's a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across all of North Texas today and early this evening as a dry line and an upper level disturbance make their move into the region. Large hail, damaging winds, cloud-to-ground lightning and an isolated tornado or 2 are the possible threats along with flash flooding. The thunderstorms should move out of the region by late this evening.

Weirod surface features, dry line through Mineral Wells at 1:30 pm, pushing into Tarrant County on radar, but Wichita Falls with a West wind keeps dewpoints near 70ºF, and a tornado has formed in Throckmorton County. Maybe the outflow boundaries are playing heck with the surface map.

Most of the North Texas area has dodged the severe weather. However, areas near the Red River and in Oklahoma weren't so lucky. Regardless, we'll have a taste of summer by Saturday with highs in the lower 90s! But not before we have another strong cold front the next day knocking highs down to the mid 70s. Otherwise, the weather will be warm and calm.
