Surprisingly, I have been doing just what is asked for in the http://www.uhs.wsc.edu. site...with time, this may diminish to noithing within a few days. If it doesn't, the earliest I could see an MD would be Thursday next; the wife has the car "sewn up" until then.
This is embarrassing, but...

That explains HOW I got this...Thurday night, I had a searing "smoke-in-the-eyes" episode while makiing sausage for coppertop! :o (Note to self; next time, HE makes his own!)

I've had pink-eye also, though it was more of an annoyance than anything else. As soon as you said "red rimmed" eyes and told us about the mucous, then that told me that it was probably pink-eye also. I am no nurse nor am I a doctor, but it's purely from experience.
It was great that Jetmaxx found those links for you. I hope that it will go away soon!

So much for the family doctor; he's on VACATION, and didn't provide for a staff replacement.
As it is, getting "permission" to go was a HUGE concession from the wife; the only alternative for me now is "Urgent Care", much more expensive...and "out of the question" as far as the privy purse (also, according to the wife).

WHAT THE #$^&@?????
THAT'S BS MY DEAR FRIEND!
Your eyesight is important! You just started a new job that will bring you extra $$$ and JOY and a feeling of purpose. Tell her that she needs to be more than a wife in name only - she needs to be a friend and a supporter!

She hasn't been a '"friend and supporter" since coppertop was four...but that's another story.
As to ER? Unless you (a) have been shot, (b) been in a car accident or (c) have had some local goat bite your ***** off ("Ba-a-a-a-a-d goat!"
), they don't want to see you..."life-threatening" only, please.
If I can get access to the car tomorrow, I WILL go to "Urgent Care"...I'm tired of not having seen any MD for 4 years, and I have a LOT of questions that beg answers.

Something sounds *fishy* Bill.......a hospital, regardless of a persons ability/or lack of, to pay and the conditions one is being seen for, the ER "HAS" to see you regardless PERIOD. What ever the reason, GET OFF YOUR DUFF AND GO........the lack of moola, the lack of insurance CANNOT stand in the way......hell, if nuthin else, when the bill comes, file medical bankruptcy, what are they gonna do, take away your birthday???

Geez, Dennis, if that would work...I might try it too. Birthdays come too fast any more!
Bill....I've checked out some medical locations in Sikeston and nearby...and they do exist. If one is a problem...try another. It's time to think of yourself. It is not about pride or ego...it is about your health. Hang in there, and keep us posted.

I have already strongly informed "studentmom04" that I AM going to the Urgent Care Clinic at Ferguson Medical Center (can you hear the wailing and the gnashing of teeth where you are?) TOMORROW...then to "The Medicine Shoppe" for whatever Rx is decreed.
As to Missouri Delta Hospital (the only one in Sikeston), Dennis...last year, when she had kidney stones, there was ONE intake nurse, 23 patients and NO chair for her; I had to beg for a wheelchair for her to sit in until we were "served", an hour and a half later.
"Blood and guts" injuries went in immediately, and they took the paperwork later; for those that were "non-life-threatening", it was "sit down, shut up, and we'll get to you when we feel like it"...but not before filling out a ream of papers, while she cried and screamed from the pain.
Oh, yes, they EVENTUALLY admitted her...but the "services" received give a new and ugly meaning to the term "caregiver", at least in this part of the Bootheel.
I had to remind her that I could easily replace the $$ within a few days from the designs I have on the drafting board, but I have to be able to SEE first.
