Although I haven't cared much about the show in the past few weeks, after being a told about a few things, I went back and watched particular parts, like David Cook's "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera - love that song and he was awesome!! I also watched the part where Paula pretty much told America that they're either scripted or make up their "opinions" before performance night. That explains some of the comments/critiques that didn't make a lick of sense before. I wasn't surprised about it, but was surprised at Paula's blunder. Poor Jason... getting criticized for a song he hadn't even sung yet!! Not a huge Jason fan, but I like him and think he's sweet and funny, in a goofy kinda way... that had to be quite discouraging.

I'm so glad to see Michael making headlines and turning heads since his departure. AI is using Michael's popularity to promote Idol and the tour, and hopefully help his post-Idol career. AI flew Ricky Minor and the band out to Chicago last week to play behind Michael and Carly who were invited to sing for a special for Ellen DeGeneres. He's been invited to so many places, including the White House correspondents dinner about a week ago... Condoleezza Rice hugged him, asked for a picture, and an autograph. :D
Many celebrities have expressed an interest in his talent - so glad to see as I can't wait to hear more music from him!
I think he has actually been busier with appearances, interviews, promotional events, etc. since he left AI.

Other MJ fans who think he left way too early or simply miss him... you haven't heard the last of this star. He's been bombarded with offers from various labels. :D

After last night's disappointing performances overall (just going by what fans, judges, etc. said) and all the buzz about Michael, I think Simon is missing Michael as well.

A Singer Sent Home Too Soon
"Michael Johns was probably the only contestant that should have stayed on a bit longer. I was thinking this week it would have been nice to see him in the Top 4. I think he would have got better."

But powerhouse American Idol actually took a hit against of the first hour of an expanded Dancing With the Stars on ABC, with 21.25 million viewers and an 8.2 rating/23 share from 8-9 p.m. Compared to one year earlier, that was a decrease of 4.22 million viewers (25.47 to 21.25 million) and 12 percent among adults 18-49 (9.3/28 to 8.2/23).

Only a 20 share in the fast nationals, I've never seen it that low! Getting very close to having other shows beating it which has never happened.

I really hope the networks quit giving up on putting anything against the show next season.

Top-honors at 9 p.m., and the evening overall, fell in Fox’s court, of course, with American Idol at 22.39 million viewers and an 8.0/21 among adults 18-49. But one year earlier (on May 9, 2007), Idol averaged 28.20 million viewers and a 10.8/28 in the demo.

20% drop in viewers and 25% in the demo. Might be the lowest demo rating ever.

I was in Sarasota all weekend. It's Syesha-crazy. The name Syesha was practically burned into my skull in Sarasota.

Song choices tonight from rehearsal:

David Archuleta - Paula Abdul chose: “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel - Beautiful, best of the 3 songs he did. It was acapella for half the song. Wearing a tie and leather jacket. judges, kids, producers
Syesha Mercado - Randy Jackson chose: “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys - Sequiny gown - gold.
David Cook - Simon Cowell chose: “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack -He changed it up - made it a little rocky - almost unrecognizable.
David Archuleta - David chose: “With You” by Chris Brown - Audience loved it. Interacted with the audience.
Syesha Mercado -Syesha chose: “Fever” by Peggy Lee - A very short sequined mini-dress and sung it very suggestively.
David Cook - David chose: “Dare You to Move” by Switchfoot - Played guitar He said he wanted to do something upbeat.
David Archuleta - The producers chose: “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg - injected some runs.
Syesha Mercado - The producers chose: “Hit Me Up” by Gia Farrell - Syesha’s performances were the least memorable of the night.
David Cook - The producers chose: “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. Strings and violins on this one.

David A -- go away please
Syesha -- not too bad . .. I didn't cringe, anyway. .
David C -- :D he started off a bit rough, but pulled it out...

Round 1
David C, Syesha, David A

Round 2

David C, Syesha, David A (it was a mess)

Round 3

David A -- the song is too old for you . . . though better than Round 1 and 2 . .. . of course he's in the finals next week
Syesha -- come on . . . tell the truth .. . you don't want Syesha in the finale. . .
David C -- will be in the finale :)

Game, set, match David C

Did David A sing something?

Syesha though I think will be gone tomorrow(the tweens will drool and obsess over Archie). Her last song was very forgettable.

David C's last song was AMAZING. Perfect for him. Syesha is gone.

I think i've figured out why i don't care for david a. He doesn't seem to get into his songs. There's no feeling to them. He's just singing the words. Just put him in a mouse suit and let him sing, it'd be perfect for him. And a note to david a....don't try to dance ever again.

David Cook has the talent to win it all.
