This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

System not looking impressive

#1 Postby Derek Ortt » Mon Jul 07, 2003 7:23 am

I am not impressed with this mornings visibles. I tried to run garp to look at some bouys, but I really need to learn how to use that program (you'd thinkl something 10X easier than MATLAB would be easier to run, lol). However, the banding features, to me, are not as apparent as they were yesterday. In addition, the inflow is not as evident. I cannot see recon finding a closed low at this time, though I suspect that they will investigate

Please e-mail me any responses I the pages will not load from work

Agreed Derek. There is more convection but less organization than yesterday, BUT this deeper convection can lead to better organization pretty quik. The banding does not look "attached" to the circulation like it did yesterday, but they might go investigate and will probably find 35kt winds and clasify it even if they dont find a good llc, there is probably a broad low, but with convection hanging on, it can close up rather quikly.

Another thing, we wont have to wait for recon for them to decide if they upgrade or not. The ThunderStorm activity is almost on Barbados at this moment. Observations from ther in the next 4 hours should give a clear picture of whats going on.
