Dont touch!!!

Re: Dont touch!!!
Well,I give up! I've spent the last 2 hours on every site I could find about snakes and have found no pictures any where near the one I described. I have never in my life seen a picture, photo,tv show or anything with a snake this color! After looking for 2 hours and looking at the pictures posted here, maybe tan was the wrong color to use. I guess it was more of a yellowish color, but the only yellow snakes I've ever heard of are pythons and I really don't think it was one of those. Thanks for your time and if I ever see it again I'll try to remember to get a picture, but I hope I don't because I really don't care to run across them in the wild(haha!),but I like to look at them at a zoo(where they can't get too close to me!) Thanks again

No biggie...Like I said there have be so many no native species released here that it could of been one of those...Biggest thing is if possibe just let them be...Even though you may not see it , they are benificial in keeping bugs and rodents in line...And 99.9 % of snakes you run into are non venomous and just want to get far from you...

Only 2 species of snake in the UK, Grass Snakes and Adders. Adders are venomous, although IIRC only 6 people have died in the last 110 years from being bitten by them.
In Florida you are pretty much living in a ZOO...

Re:
Yeah,I ran across an article last night while searching snakes, about this. It didn't mention how many were there though. I had no idea there would be that many! I have read about the monkeys that escaped during Andrew and now live in the wild, but never this. As you said- Florida is a zoo, you never know what you'll see next.

Those toads are nasty critters!!!! Our vet told us about them way back when we first started having dogs. We have ejected more than one from our yard.

Red and yellow kills a fellow. That is a coral snake. The best way to deal with a snake is not to mess with it. The snakes I have seen are mostly garter snakes and grass snakes. Snakes never bothered me personally.

Re: Dont touch!!!
Coral Snakes are related to Cobras and one bite can easily kill a human. However they're usually docile, now that doesn't mean go play with one because they still will get agitated.
I've run into Coachwhips in Florida and I steer clear. Though not poisonous then can be very aggresive, as can Water Snakes and Cottonmouths (Cottonmouth can kill you too).
