Looks like a active night in my area!

urgent - immediate broadcast requested Severe Thunderstorm Watch number 675 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1020 PM CDT Mon Jul 7 2003

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

Western Iowa central and eastern Nebraska extreme southeast South Dakota

Effective this Monday night and Tuesday morning from 1020 PM until 500 am CDT.

Hail to 2 inches in diameter... thunderstorm wind gusts to 80 mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch area is along and 140 statute miles east and west of a line from 75 miles north northwest of Norfolk Nebraska to 45 miles south southeast of Hastings Nebraska.

Remember... a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

Other watch information... continue... ww 670... ww 671... ww 672... ww 673... ww 674...

Discussion... wrn neb forward-propagating mcs expected to continue ewd at about 40 kts as new cell development continues on downwind side of cold pool. While background environmental flow is not very strong /20-25 kt wly flow at 500 mb/... thermodynamics and nocturnal strengthening of low level jet should be favorable for continued ewd motion of complex. Development of system and the potential for embedded supercells will also be fostered by expected strengthening of front now stalled W/E across cntrl neb.

Aviation... a few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to 2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 70 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 600. Mean storm motion vector 27035.

... Corfidi

Oh man, what a rush!! We had one of the best lightning shows I have seen in years here. Around 1:30 am or so I started seeing flashes of light, I checked out the radar and it looked like a Christmas tree!

We had three different bands move through and all three were INTENSE! We lost power for 6 hours. Silly me, I sat out on the front porch from 1:30 am till 6 am with a stupid grin on my face the whole time!

After sleeping a few hours today I checked out the radar and it's coming my way.... IT'S MINE!! ALL MINE!!

Bring it on, I live for this!
