Re: Prayer request
I have an update today. The appointment phase of everything will end thursday. On Friday, my dad will be getting a chemo pump, and right after that he will get the first trichemo treatment. The first treatment will be pumped in over the weekend. No word as to if he will be in the hospital over the weekend or not, as was expected. Also sometime in the next two weeks I will have to administer a shot to my dad that raises WBC (white blood cell) count.

He just got home. He had a successful surgery for the Chemo pump. They tried putting a liquid bandage on the extra area, then they put some kind of cloth on it, and it got stuck. They tried taking it off and off came the bandage, so they had to reapply it. Then after that they took an xray to find out if the pump was in the right place ( I dont think it was an xray, but thats what my mamma told me). Then they went to the chemo, but his BP was sky high, and they had to bring it down. Once it was down they started pumping. It is now pumping in slowly. They came home, went to the bathroom, and went out for food. lol

Re: Prayer request
Well, theres been a down turn in events. A couple days ago, my dad had many cases of hiccups because of one of the meds he was on. The doctors took him off that med and the hiccups stopped. Two nights ago, he woke up with a pretty bad temperature of 100°. I called the doctors, they said to give him normal asprin and to go back to bed. Yesterday was a bad day for him. His taste buds are completely out of whack. He complained that the chicken we had for dinner tasted like tooth picks and the peas were like cardboard and soft bb's. He is a person that likes it the hotter the better, and he is completely turned off anything warm now. Many of the foods he liked before, he doesnt any more. Today he had tuna sandwiches and cantaloupe, which he said were alright. He has also been eating ice cream. Because of the distaste in just about everything, he has lost 11lbs in 2 weeks. He has a large rash where the chemo pump was. Today he was complaining that his throat hurts, and it hurts to talk. He has also complained that it hurts to go to the bathroom. He also broke one of the needles last night for the white blood count increaser. He went to the doctors today and they gave him a few extra meds to help the rash and his mouth as well as another needle. Right now he is sleeping.

Re: Prayer request-Updated 4/2-down turn in events
You know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
There may be ups and downs for a while until everything settles down some. I hope he feels better when he wakes up and I hope the meds they gave him today help.
You are a wonderful son to help take care of your dad! I know it isn't easy. Hang in there.

you are really a really strong person, the care that you show for your dad is testimony to the love you have for your fam. In times such as these, that bond is closer than ever. These things he is going through are just obstacles, do not stop believing, staying positive, and strong. More than ever, your fam needs you.
Still praying as well.

Good morning fact......I'm very sorry to hear your news. Your father is in my prayers. The rash, fever and urinary problems are prolly all related to the chemo infusion. The threshold for fever concern with chemo is 101F. At 101F you go to the ER. As a caregiver to a cancer patient you love......you will experience strength you didn't know existed. My prayers are also for you and your mom. It's important to become pro-active. Learn all the medical terminology. From your description.....your father is currently in pre-op chemo? Is surgery planned?
