Significance of Arthur Tropical Storm Arthur never had an official advisory over water. Each advisory was inland and this is the first occurence of this in our database for obvious reasons. In my opinion, the system should have been classified a depression while east of Belize mainly because of the flooding potential. Since I don't know the story, I can't speak ill of the NHC but Arthur should have been classified 12-18 hours earlier. The question is: will the remnants of Arthur serve as a catalyst for another tropical cyclone like Alma? There is a disturbance in the EPAC which I will discuss next. What's next? continue

Just another hot, scorchy day along the Gulf Coast for us with a very slight chance of pop up shower from the heating of the day.

All we can do is wait now. Remember, it's still early June. Theres plenty to come in the Atlantic, the EPAC, and certainly the WPAC.

It is June 3....not August 3 or September 3....we could very well have weeks of quiet..dare i even say..even a couple of months of quiet ahead...but certainly seeing as that we have barely made it to the first pitch of the first inning of this season, there is no doubt alot of excitement ahead in time!

We wait. My bet is that something tries to get going near the very end of June or early July, then we wait again until August.

We won't have to wait that long. I suspect a home brew in the 7-10 day range, right down there in the unsettled mess south of these parts. Maybe all it will be is a lot of tropical moisture being drawn north. But at this time of year, a storm is never out of the question. Need a week or so for hostile enviroment to ease on out.

It is cool to see how a potentially significant cyclone wasn't supported by another zone.
