Dry air subsidence due to the upper low in the bahamas may decrease
rain chances today over the florida peninsula, but when the low crosses florida tomorrow or
by Monday, expect rain chances to ramp up signficantly. Water vapor
imagery shows bands of moisture being pulled up from the Carribbean on the
East Side of this Low.

Sunday and especially Monday look to potentially be the wettest for us, after that, we are down to 20% chance of rain from late Tuesday through the weekend.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
249 PM EDT SAT JUN 7 2008

.DISCUSSION...

THE DRIER AIR OVER THE CWA SHOULD START TO SLOWLY MOISTEN UP LATE
TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY AHEAD OF THE MID TO UPPER LEVEL LOW. SO HAVE
KEEP THE SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS FOR THE EAST COAST AREAS LATE
TONIGHT...AND HAVE UP THE POPS A LITTLE BIT FOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON
INTO SUNDAY NIGHT OVER ALL OF THE CWA.

THE MOISTURE SHOULD CONTINUE TO INCREASE OVER THE CWA ON
MONDAY BEHIND TOE MID TO UPPER LEVEL LOW...AS THE STEERING FLOW
WILL BE MORE FROM THE SOUTH. THE EAST AND WEST COAST SEA BREEZE
SHOULD ALSO DEVELOP ALONG BOTH COAST ON MONDAY. SO HAVE UP THE
POPS ON MONDAY TO HIGH IN CHANCE...EXCEPT LIKELY OVER WESTERN
INTERIOR AREAS FOR THE SEA BREEZES AND LAKE BREEZE COLLISION.

.EXTENDED FORECAST...

HIGH PRESSURE WILL THEN BUILD BACK INTO THE WESTERN ATLANTIC
WATERS LATE NEXT WEEK. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR THE STEERING FLOW TO GO
BACK TO A EASTERLY DIRECTION...AND SHIFT THE HIGHEST POPS BACK TO
THE WEST COAST AREAS. DRIER AIR WILL ALSO BE WORKING BACK INTO THE
CWA BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK...SO THE POPS WILL BE BACK TO THE
SLIGHT CHANCE TO LOW IN CHANCE CAT.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind between 6 and 13 mph.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Partly cloudy, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming east between 11 and 14 mph. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.

Sunday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind between 3 and 11 mph.

Monday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming east between 8 and 11 mph.

Monday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind between 5 and 8 mph becoming calm.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly cloudy, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming south between 4 and 7 mph.

Wednesday - Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 90.

There was a shower that moved over my house around sunset and left 0.08 inches of rain.

Looks like that a true wet season start will definitely come into play this week, with the help of the ULL & the SE ridge breaking down or pushing to the east.

Ok guys, I did the modern day equivalent of a rain dance last night....I washed my dusty car. We have not had any rain beyond light showers in my neighborhood in over two months. Ruskin's morning discussion leaves me feeling optimistic for some big boomers near the beaches later today. let's hope they're right.

With added moisture as the ULL pulls in moisture, and the seabreeze
and near record heat, expect some strong to severe thunderstorms
along the west coast of Florida all up and down the peninsula to form
in the next 3-6 hours. Some of these storms, with these dyanmics in place,
will be capable, in my opinion and amateur knowledge, of producing wind
gusts of 60 mph or greater, as was the case in treasure island 2 days ago.

At least in south fla...we will be struggle to really see the wet season start this week...

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
1033 AM EDT SUN JUN 8 2008

PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 310 AM EDT SUN JUN 8 2008/

DISCUSSION...LARGE 50H RIDGE PERSISTS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST U.S.
WITH MID/UPPER LOW CONTINUING TO MOVE W TOWARDS S FLA AND
CURRENTLY SITUATED OVER THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS. NOT MUCH WX
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS LOW AT THE CURRENT TIME BUT AS IT APPROACHES
S FLA, COULD DESTABILIZE THE ATMOSPHERE ENOUGH TO INCREASE CHANCES
OF CONVECTION AND BOTH MAV AND MET REFLECT THIS. STILL NOTHING TO
GET EXCITED ABOUT HOWEVER AS IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A COLD CORE
LOW SO DESTABILIZATION COULD BE AT A MINIMUM.
ALL MODEL GUIDANCE
NOW IN GENERAL AGREEMENT THAT BY MONDAY AND TUESDAY AS THE LOW
MOVES INTO THE GOFMEX AND LARGE TROUGH DIGS INTO THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS, ATLANTIC RIDGE WILL BUILD AND HELP TO DRAW MOISTURE
NORTHWARD AND BOTH THE MAV AND MET REFLECT THIS WITH HIGHER POPS
EACH DAY WITH THE GFS BEING THE MOST AGGRESSIVE IN THE MOISTURE
RETURN. BEYOND TUESDAY INTO NEXT WEEKEND, BOTH THE GFS AND ECMWF
SHOW THE GOMEX LOW GETTING PICKED UP BY THE SOUTHERN PLAINS TROUGH
WITH A MID/UPPER RIDGE BUILDING BACK ACROSS THE FLA PENINSULA
WHICH WOULD BRING POPS BACK DOWN BELOW CLIMO.

Hubby mowed the weeds today. LOL That makes me think it won't rain.

Seabreezes about to collide near Tampa Bay, the west
coast seabreeze can be seen on radar now moving over
eastern pinellas and out into Tampa Bay, and the East Coast
Sea Breeze thunderstorms are approaching Tampa Bay, they
are over central Hillsborough County and just east of Tampa,
as these seabreeze boundaries collide, strong to severe thunderstorms
will form, likely over western hillsborough county or over Tampa Bay.
Fact789, get ready for some gusty winds/rains with storms forming along
the seabreeze collision within the next 25 minutes to 45 minutes.

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/tbw

The ruskin Discussion also indicates mid level colder temperatures
associated with an upper level disturbance, combining with the storms
to produce strong gusty winds. Damaging straight line winds are a possibility
in the next hour or so.

Almost time to storm chase...

Moderate rain shower just moved through, but Ominous
sky to the east and northeast of saint petersburg. A shelf
cloud (white chunk of cloud hanging below the main thunderstorm)
is visible moving over Tampa Bay about 8 miles to my east.
This represents the east coast seabreeze and it is right
now colliding with the west coast seabreeze. The shelf cloud
is forming rapidly and thickening.
