Not quite cyclogenesis. Wasn't there at the surface. (Keep this pattern in mind later)

It's pretty much wrong every day. ;)

If you look at it in a baseball kind of way, if you get 3 out 10 right, you're doing an amazing job!!!

Potential for rain, not tropical.

It would so rock (wishcast alert) if that MCS over Northeast Texas keeps dropping due South and starts feeding off the storms already moving into SE Texas off the Gulf thanks to our friendly upper level low.

Let's hope so. We did get 3 good tropical showers yesterday and my yard and landscaping is thankful.

It has been raining off and on all day at my house in Alabama since about 10am. We even lost the power earlier.

Don't think anybody would say there's an LLC in the Gulf. And the convection poofed.

Is there any science, whatsoever, associated with the 'Farmers Almanac' as far as weather predictions?

Anyway, Gulf is still as quiet as possible.

Only the science of mystery. From wikipedia:

Predictions for each edition are made as far as two years in advance. The Farmers’ Almanac publishers are highly secretive about the method used to make its predictions, only stating publicly that it is a “top secret mathematical and astronomical formula, that relies on sunspot activity, tidal action, planetary position and many other factors.” The identity of the Farmers’ Almanac weather forecaster is also a secret. The Almanac’s forecaster is referred to by the pseudonym “Caleb Weatherbee.”

Is there something trying to cook in the SE GOM this morning?

No.

Well, there is some scattered showers on the East side of an upper level low, but no is a correct answer.

Since this thread isn't dated, it can go on into August or September, until something is declared an invest and the thread is finally locked.

Conditions in the central and eastern Gulf aren't that bad, but nothing much in the way of convergence. I guess if those T-stroms N of the Yucatan continued it would something to watch. But, pretty calm so far. 8-)

Gulf doesn't seem so quiet this morning, is it just thunderstorms or should we start watching
