Storm2k CRUISE_ONE MORE DAY AND ONLY A FEW CABINS LEFT

#1 Postby linkerweather » Tue Jun 17, 2008 8:19 pm

Hello all,
Southerngale suggested I post this here.
My wife has put together a group cruise for March 2009. It is on the Carnival Freedom which is one of their new ships. It is huge! The departure date is March 22, 2009.
I am just finalizing getting it all on a website with booking capability. The prices are more than $100 less then what you would find direct with the cruise line as it is a group.
I am going to donate a good portion (whatever my wife allows) of the proceeds to Storm2k.
The only issue is that committing to this trip will need to be done within the next few weeks to lock in the very low group pricing.
Suites, balconies, oceanviews, all of various classes will be available.
Stay tuned for the booking instructions.

IMagine sailing to the western caribbean not during cane season with all of your favorite storm2k posters.
Let's try to sell this baby out!
Josh Linker-Tampa, FL

The booking site is http://www.yourvacationlinker.com just click groups once the booking engine comes up.

That's actually a great idea and I wish you luck getting people to commit.I couldn't get people together to kick off the 2008 season at a resturant so sorry for being pesimisstic. Will the cruise be sailing out of Tampa?

The cruise is out of Fort Lauderdale.
Prices are great. If you want to book before the site is up, I can get that done direct through the cruise line via the group.

Carnival is my rival. Royal Caribbean is the way to go lol! I mean, today they just announced that their new ship will have an ampatheater, Boardwalk, inward balconies, real grass, and 6,000 passengers! lol, I will look into this cruise.

Well, Theres no way possible that I could make this cruise. But I very much love the idea. Carnival is amazing! If you want a good time or wanna party, go for Carnival. Royal Caribbean has much larger ships, but Carnival is just plain fun. Food 24/7 (including the midnight buffet and cha cha line). Ive been on the Carnival Triumph myself and had a blast. You will definatly get your moneys worth. A cruise, if you havent done it, is one of the best experiences I have ever head. Get a lot of sleep before hand, because if you are like me, you wont sleep a whole lot. I like to sleep in, but not on a cruise (on any cruise line). Event keep going all night long. From a spa, gym, water slide, numerous pools, 24/7 ice cream and pizza, an American Idol type competition, a mall, movies on the big screen before they hit the theaters, a casino, amazing shows, amazing people. You will not find one person on board that you cant talk to or have fun with. If you are on the edge of going, do it, you will not regret it. A cruise boat is like a new home, and you will severely miss it after you leave. Any questions about cruising on Carnival, or Royal Caribbean or Holland America for that matter, feel free to ask. Have fun.

Same here. I have experience with Carnival and Royal Caribbean, as I have sailed with both before, so I can answer questions.

Surprised furluvcats/Shannon hasn't seen this thread yet! She and her husband have been on many cruises. This would be right up her alley!

Good luck with the idea......personally speaking, I know I wouldn't be able to attend. Our family takes one vacation a year and we're paying for two in college beginning this Fall. But it sounds like fun and there might be enough interest here to gather a good sized turnout.

Good luck!

The booking site will be up and ready to roll after the weekend. Please, if you have any questions about rates and cabin classes please let me know. My wife can get you booked before the site is up. we have doubles, triple and quad availability as well as oceanviews, suites, balconies, and requests for adjoining rooms, for now, can be made. If you need that it would be suggested to get that booked as quickly as possible.
I hope this turns out to be a big deal. Should be a lot of fun!

The booking site is up at http://www.yourvacationlinker.com click on book travel and then groups

#12 Postby linkerweather » Wed Jun 25, 2008 6:41 pm

The storm2k cruise booking site is online.
Go to http://www.yourvacationlinker.com click book travel on the left, then groups at the top

March 22, 2009 is the date on the Carnival Freedom out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Many cabin classes to choose from.
Due to high demand of the ship, only doubles are on the booking site. Triples and quads are available, I just have to contact Carnival directly to handle it. So, if you need a triple or a quad or adjoining cabins, let me know ASAP.
The first payment date is July 8th so committment needs to be by then.
The prices you see on the site include ALL taxes, fees, surcharges, port charges, FUEL SURCHARGES.
Insurance is available on the site but is optional.
I hope to see many of you there next spring. Let's have a big weather geek out party at sea!

Also, like I mentioned, a portion of the proceeds will go right to storm2k. It is a valuable site to me and hopefully most of you, so lets try to help out and have fun!

Wow! I checked it out and it sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, it isn't possible for us to join y'all as our entire family just returned from a weeklong cruise on the Carnival Legend out of Tampa. We had a blast--- as y'all certainly will on the Freedom! We cruised in March of last year and it is a great time to cruise as it's not too terribly hot in the Caribbean. (It was dreadfully hot last week!) Grand Cayman is a marvelous place! We ate at Guy Harvey's new restaurant there. The food was very good and the prices were not as bad as at the other places in town. Grand Cayman can be a bit pricey. In Jamaica last year, we decided to take an excursion into the interior-- the mountain area-- and we had a really fun time. The port area can be a little scary, but it was a lot of fun to check out a hummingbird place and a coconut and banana farm.

Going before or after hurricane season is so smart and much less stressful. Though we booked early in the season (it was the only time all of us could go due to school schedules), we were still anxiously watching to be sure that a tropical wave or storm didn't pop up in the Gulf to rain on our cruise. Y'all are much smarter! Have a marvelous time!!

I had plans to participate in this until I realized the date. Our first Grandchild is due within a few weeks of that(before) and there is no way on God's green earth I would be able to tear the new Grandmother away from her "duties"(spoiling rotten) at that point in time. Sounds wonderful and I hope a lot of our members participate!!

One week to go for this group. My wife said she will try to get it extended. But, no guarantees. The cruise lines don't like to keep unsold groups active for too long.
So, go to http://www.yourvacationlinker.com and click on book travel and then groups.
If you need a triple or a quad PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Re: Storm 2k Cruise-Booking Site is ACTIVE!!!-ONE WEEK TO GO!!!

#18 Postby linkerweather » Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:42 am

1500 views in just over a week!!!
I suppose I wasn't sure what to expect but so far, I must admit that I am a bit suprised and disappointed with the lack of response to the cruise. I figured it was a great way to support Storm2k and have a great vacation in the process.
Like I mentioned there is still a week left before my wife will try to get an extension. She has plenty of cabins booked just none here through storm2k.

Re: Bertha WILL NOT BE ON THE STORM2k Cruise---WILL YOU????

#19 Postby linkerweather » Thu Jul 03, 2008 9:45 pm

300 views of this topic in a day. I will be away from the computer for the weekend. But the site is still active, there are plenty of cabins available. Remember triples and quads need to contact me. I am going on the cruise, we have 23 cabins sold already (not through storm2k) but other people we know. I will donate a good chunk of the proceeds from cabins sold to storm2k posters and their friends and families to storm2k. Time is running out!
I hope everyone has a happy 4th! :flag:

I don't think that we will be able to do this one; however, we just finished a 13 day cruise on the Carnival Freedom in May (to Italy, Turkey and Greece). As far as the ship goes, it was great, and everything that you would expect of a newer ship. The entertainment (evening shows) were amazing... absolutely the best I have ever seen on a cruise. Be sure to eat often in the "supper club" (cost was an additional $30 per person, but well worth the 5 star treatment you receive).
