Yep as solar heating increases over the next 2-3 years we should see more showers kick off further north I'd have thought. Still at least there are some showers over and close to Lake O.

I'm in a weird night pattern here where I get rain in the middle of the night instead of the middle of the day.

Is this it for SFL today? It is 2 PM EDT, and there doesn't seem to be any storms forming in land, or storms moving inland that are maintaining intensity.

Re: Florida Weather Thread-Strong storms possible today

Over the next day or two dry air and the lack of steering current will be the rule over the peninsula of Florida. Any weather that does pop up will move toward the interior and get stuck there because of the lack of steering. Also because of the dry air, the strange nighttime thunderstorms will be much lower in number. POPs increase late in the weekend. Heat also tries to make a reentry with the moisture. This period of quietness should serve as a transitional period back to late day storms early next week.

Just a reminder that Summer officially begins tomorrow!

MIAMI-DADE FL-
336 PM EDT FRI JUN 20 2008

...THE URBAN FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 PM EDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY...

AT 336 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO
INDICATE THUNDERSTORMS WITH TORRENTIAL RAINFALL OCCURRING ACROSS
PORTIONS OF THE MIAMI METROPOLITAN AREA. 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS
ALREADY FALLEN OVER MIAMI...WITH RAINFALL RATES AS HIGH AS 5 INCHES
AN HOUR BEING REPORTED WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITIES ON SOME ROADS.

THE HEAVIEST RAIN WILL AFFECT AREAS FROM SOUTH MIAMI TO CORAL GABLES
TO DOWNTOWN MIAMI...WHERE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2
INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY

ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
