This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Convection is presisting and shear is not strong ahead

#1 Postby cycloneye » Tue Jul 08, 2003 6:18 am

Let's wait for the recon this morning to see if it finds a closed circulation under that big blob of convection but I dont see nothing that may suggest a closed one but recon and visible pics will show if there is one or not.The ULL is moving west and out of the caribbean and that will leave favorable conditions in comming days for the system so all GOMERS you will have to watch this closely.

I'll either spend my 2 week vacation here or in NC. Planning to leave Friday for NC for 2 weeks. May end up spending it here, depending on what this system does. The fishing trip might have to do without me.

Let's get real folks. She's starting to crank now....finally. Conditions look ripe ahead of her. I think they will dubb her Claudette today, and yes they will find a closed circulation. Cheers!!

A tropical depression is only declared when a closed circulation is found.

It's showtime...does not look like anything will try to weaken Claudette, and wouldn't be surprised to see it strenghthen into a Hurricane in the next day or 2! :o

I agree with Kelly.

Local met here said that it will cross the Yucatan and get into the BOC. Any opinions?

There is some strong shear ahead of Tropical Storm Claudette, but as the upper level low moves away that shear is expected to decrease.
