Indeed @ Jason_B. And some of us purely aren't Christian ;)

Tell the cashier you use them to make hand puppets for kids' parties.

Haha.I'd get some very weird looks. But over the past years I've had the cashiers ask some very unusual questions. It's as if they try make one as uncomfortable as possible.

I've also had one shout out loudly so that everyone near could hear "EISH WHY SO MANY COOONDOMS!" (In Xhosa accent)

Wow that's pretty low of them. They are there to do a job, not to criticize you.

Perhaps they are conducting experiments using the condoms. Are there any other uses for condoms? Who knows.....MGC

We come to the conclusion that the experiment is about the effect of subfreezing temperatures on ballon animals!!!

Is this what society has become that we are encouraging this type of behavior? Or am I stuck in the old times (but correct according to biblical teaching) that sexual activity is to be reserved until the commencement of the sacriment of marriage

Two points: it's not as though the government has any authority to stop people from having sex, and if they ARE going to have sex the government has a vested interest in ensuring that nobody gets pregnant there.

Remember, not everybody subscribes to the same religious dogma. ;)

I'll piggy-back on this:

If I was in charge of that situation, A) I must realize that not everyone has the same views on premarital sex as you, Derek. B) I also must realize that I have an invest in each person I employ. As a manager, regardless of the restrictions I may impose, co-workers WILL "enjoy" one another from time to time. If, by making condoms available--free of charge, I've made the odds more in my favor that one of my female employees will NOT get pregnant.

By having a pregnant employee, I lose productivity, because she will have to leave the continent. It's unsafe for her to have a child there. Furthermore, during the winter months, it's difficult to get a plane down there for rescue. I'm reminded of a situation several years back when a worker had cancer and needed surgery during the winter months. She couldn't stay because they didn't have the resources to take care of her, but it was dangerous to send in an aircraft to pick her up. Now, in that case, cancer is a hard thing to get away from. It certainly wasn't her or the company's fault. Now, pregnancy is much more avoidable. Condoms is sort of like insurance in this case. Will it prevent all pregnancies? No. But by making the option available, it will certainly reduce that risk.

Additionally, condoms will help reduce the chances of STDs being spread. While not all STDs can be prevented by condom use, it will help. In turn, the likelihood of a serious, life-threatening situation is reduced.

It's not a matter of encouraging premarital sex (although we must remember that not everyone has the same viewpoints.) It's a matter of protecting the investment--the company's employees--to ensure their health and--in turn--the company's productivity.

That's my view, anyway...
