TUTT Low Is Entering Central Caribbean

The following post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It appears the typical July Caribbean TUTT low is heading towards the Central Caribbean. The tropical wave about 1500 miles E of the Lesser Antilles looks fairly impressive but will have no chance against the TUTT low which should shut down tropical activity in a broad region of the Central and Eastern Caribbean for the time being.

You can clearly see it here at 22N 67W or about 250 miles north of Puerto Rico drifting SSW.

It's unclear how long this TUTT feature will hang around in the Caribbean but the TUTT typically retreats into the far Western Caribbean and weakens starting in early August and hence is why July is typically a slow month for Eastern Caribbean systems despite the fact the SSTs are their warmest and why things usually start to ramp up in this region during mid to late August.

Interesting, thanks Gatorcane. Last night one of the Miami weathermen mentioned a persistent caribbean trough, first time I can remember hearing about this feature, I hadn't thought about how a TUTT there would interfere with development.
Can we get one of these to park itself over the Straits between florida and the bahamas?

Think I remember one year recently had a lot of TUTTs off Jacksonville area and it sheared a lot of developing convection for a while during the season.

Last season produced several TUTT's moving westbound across the GOM. We know how far south the storm track was then.
