America's Got Talent Starts Tonight

#1 Postby JonathanBelles » Tue Jun 17, 2008 4:40 pm

Just a reminder America's Got Talent starts tonight. All I gotta say is, it better be as good as Britain's Got Talent because I watched that on Youtube just about every week.

It was very close. I could have seen either one win.

Yep I agree I did like George as well though as good as he is there is better out there who do similar things, meanwhile there is no-one that really does what signature does in that act!

I've watched both Seasons 1 and 2, so I'm definitely watching tonight(at least the 2nd hour after Hell's Kitchen is over) but I'm not really that excited about it.

The two overwhelming performances came from the last act and the little 4 year old girl. I can see either one winning. Both have energy, the emotional tug, and a great story. Amazing! Chilling! Superb!

The little 4 year old girl was the best part of it tonight.

Another AMAZING kid on tonight. I only watched the last 40 mins, but he was the stand out by a long shot.

The little boy David at the end STOLE the show last night.

The young girl with guitar also (very pretty, with long blond hair, sad though, as Sharon pointed out). We joked we'd fix her up with Eli (singer/piano player from a few episodes ago). They'd make a cute couple. Eli's the contestant from Ireland too - to help put a name with a face/act.

We could not watch a few of these acts though - mainly the sword swallower! OMG! When Hoff buzzed him, he said he almost pierced his stomach! How does that man do that? Cringing.....just to imagine.

I didn't get to watch it last night. We went to the Silver Moon Drive In for T-Shirt Tuesday(get in free if wearing their T-shirt) to see Wall-E the movie that opened last Friday. It wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Nevertheless, it was good but kind of slow in places.

Maybe I'm just evil (:D), but I didn't think he was that good. he had a good story, but he wasn't any better at singing than any other 9 year old would be, IMHO.

I was thinking the same thing. Just don't Hassle the 'Hoff! ;)

Good show last night but one hour wasn't enough.

Here's my favorite aspect of this show - Jerry Springer. My family and I just find it hilarious he points out the obvious each time a new contestant comes on stage. His quips are for some odd reason, perfect for this over the top show at times!

Question, if anyone knows - did David Hasselhoff have a face lift at one time?

Our favorite contestant so far remains, Eli.

Does anyone know where you can view an entire episode, online? Not just the two minute clips NBC airs for each contestant?

Our DVR didn't record last week's July 22 episode. We noticed it was re-aired last night but only caught half of the one hour episode.

I was just hoping to find the entire episode available, somewhere.....

Thanks!

I've never seen a whole episode of AGT. My personal favorite clip is that guy who was going to demonstrate self levitation.

Thanks. We couldn't find a complete episode either, just 2 minute clips. We enjoy the entire episode, especially, as I've pointed out, Jerry Springer's commentary......he's just hilarious. Does he think we are this clueless that we won't recognize when the audience doesn't like a contestant? LOL No, he knows that, it's the way he delivers his commentary we find funny. I dubbed him the 4h Judge (not the audience!)......

We will make sure our DVR records tonight's episode.

Must have missed that levitation clip. If it's that good, I'll make sure my daughter catches the 2 min. clip of his act.

Im gonna start doing critiques tonight.

Paul was great tonight (as all acts should be at this point). The only negative thing I can say is that he didn't have power tonight. There was little to no oomph in his singing. I wasnt moved. 8/10

Kaityln was very, very good. To remember all the words at that age is amazing. Her sitting on the stage, the improvement in singing, and even the clothes were all signs of stardom. My only concern is that if she does go on to Vegas, she may grow up much to quickly. She will only improve over the years, I think she should wait numerous years to go on. I also dont think she can comprehend what a million dollars means yet. 9/10

Donald was not quite as good as expected at this time in the competition. His register was low, and his connection with the audience was weak. He needs a much stronger connection. Again, I was not moved by his song. I would not buy his album. 6/10

The price is right when it comes to Jessica. I have a strong personal connection with the song she did, but there was something that was slightly off. The only thing I could decipher, was that in the climax of the song, the pauses were a bit too long. Certainly Vegas material. The audience connection was there. The lights were slightly off and drew attention away from Jessica. All was great, but it should improve over the next few weeks. 9/10

Elvis...er Joseph is great! Certainly has audience appeal. The singing wasn't quite clear enough, partly because of screaming. Certainly Vegas material, but are there too many Elvis's in Vegas already? All very great. Something was missing though, dont know what. 9.25/10

Neal was ok. Not my type of music, but he was good. Very heart felt. Did not have power throughout. Audience appeal was there, but being Vegas material is questionable. 7.5/10

The Kids (after a quick review) were very good. Audience connection was great. Vegas...maybe. Again I think in a few years they will be prime. 8.5/9

Queen Emily was great. Lots of power in the voice, certainly Vegas material. Audience connection was certainly there. 9/10

Nuttin' But Strings was pretty good. Not a whole lot of power. Only possibly Vegas material. They should not have gone below the fog so that you cannot see them. They don't completely fit into today's culture. They were entertaining. Half and half audience attention. 8.5/10

Eli was great. The piano was stellar, intense, and true. The singing wasnt quite passionate enough, but it was heart felt. Absolutely Vegas. He lived up to Elton John. A little more power and it would be a 10. Audience connection was there, but could have been a little stronger. 9.75/10

My final 5 in no particular order....
Joseph-2 votes
Jessica-2 votes
Eli-2 votes
Kaitlyn-2 votes
Neal-1 vote

Also mentionable...Paul-1 vote

I'm so glad you found this topic! I tried looking for it recently but couldn't locate it. And couldn't search either....

Anyway, I'm voting for Eli. In fact, I already put in my 20 votes (10 online, 10 via phone).

There were several top notch performances tonight:

Jessica Price
Queen Emily
Neil Boyd

and of course, my personal fave - ELI!

If I had my way, the top 5 would be:

1. Eli
2. Jessica
3. Queen Emily
4. Neil Boyd
5. Nuttin but Strinz (although those 2 girls twirling about doing acrobatics and dare I say more, were distracting!).....

I am hoping and praying America does not vote Kaitlyn into the Top 5 and then the #1 spot. Adorable as she is, she does need to leave the competition.

Same with Elvis impersonator. I was disappointed last week when they chose him over Jonathan, the baton guy. What a shame. He had a rare, unique talent. I've never quite been an Elvis fan, but not quite NOT an Elvis fan. Could take or leave Joseph's act. If I were in Vegas and had a choice of several acts to see, I know I would not want to see an Elvis act.

Im quite flustered by the results tonight. Eli is the only one I agree with. Jessica and Joseph certainly deserved spots over Queen Emily. Neal is ok, but isnt Vegas material. I dont like Donald at all.

Jessica definitely belonged in the top 5.

I was impressed with how they sent off the 5 that didn't make it into the Top 5 - showing clips of their AGT journey. That was a nice sendoff and having everyone clap for them, instead of just watching them walk off stage quickly (as Jonathan the baton twirler did). I did feel for the Wright Kids - their faces were so sad watching their video clips. I think America was correct in not keeping them. But they did bring something so refreshing and innocent to this contest.

I wish Jessica has stayed instead of Donald. His style of singing is for a different generation and even though I joke I'm old....LOL.....his style is much too old for this fan! More my mother's generation......Eli's style (or Alt Rock) is more my style. I don't think Donald will make it to the Top 3 or 2. He'll go soon.
