4th of July plans?

#1 Postby Jason_B » Tue Jun 24, 2008 10:15 pm

Anybody know what you have planned for 4th of July yet?

I'm going camping with some friends that weekend, shoot some fireworks off by the river. And it is a holiday so I have a excuse to over eat. :ggreen: Hopefully the weather holds up during the day but considering the last several 4th of July's here it probably won't.

Being that it's my daughters 21st birthday, we'll probably go to the country club, eat bbq and watch the fireworks. It's become a tradition in our family and we all enjoy it. Then i'm sure she'll be heading out for the evening! Image

If I don't get called out, I'm supposed to drive a float in the Show Lows 4th of July parade. My best friend, supervisor at the PD is running for Navajo County Sheriff! Then a BBQ and copious amounts of a carbonated alcoholic beverage! :ggreen:

And the required beverages too.

Staying home and peeling the cats off the ceiling from the neighbor's fireworks.

Probably throw a half of cow on the grill, a few dozen ears of corn..that should feed the two of us.

Just a quiet cookout for 5 of us. Inviting 2 relatives. Since we bought a boat this year, we wanted to avoid this day on the lake. We knew it would be packed at the boat ramp and crazy on the water anyway....LOL

Now it's raining though. So I'm sure the boaters will stay home and come out when we wanted to this weekend - on Sunday. Sigh!

I was going to serve hamburgers on the grill but since Kroger's is recalling ground beef, that scared me. We're going to have salmon. Not very 4th of July like though....LOL

Mom didn't want to wake up early, so Grandma and Grandpa took the kids to GLS already. We'll be going soon, although radar would suggest the rains will arrive just a few hours after we arrive.

The DVR will record the NASCAR Nationwide Series race for me to watch when I get back.

Tomorrow, my son's 1st grade teacher, and my wife's co-worker, Miss Nguyen, becomes Mrs. Nguyen, Nguyen being the Vietnamese equivalent of Smith. Reception in Bellaire, so the Coke Zero 400 is also programmed into the DVR for recording.

Heading over to the son's for a bar-b-q and beer fest with family and friends with plenty of fireworks too. They live in the county(Cypress) and back up to a detention pond so it is safe to set the fireworks off as long as the wind is ok. To top it off their neighbors in the $1M+ home across the detention pond put on a fireworks display each year too. Ed, keep those showers/storms south of I-10 and I'll be happy!!!! :ggreen:
