They've also raised the 06z intensity to 55 kts from 50.

Yeah I think thats pretty reasonable since once again Bertha is looking better again. Just when it looks like its in real trouble it mananges to boost itself back up again. Anyway stil lgot some pretty decent convection on that northern side, southern side is weaker and that will only continue to develop as the system starts to take on ET properties.

Yep big Bertha still hanging on in there, honestly I don't think anyone would have thought at the start of July that Bertha would still be with us by the 18th of July and still looking pretty good at that!

That almost looks like an attempt at an eyewall but clearly not quite there but there is the obvious hole in the convection where the eye feature was/is.

Yeah it sure does I just wonder whether the NHC believes that the strongest winds are probably not being mixed down to the surface very well.

As the NHC said, very nice work by the GFDL/HWRF. Bertha has always been a pretty storm.

Wow Bertha is really impressive looking right now, I would expect the NHC to up its strength to 60kts next advisory with a mention that it could yet again become a hurricane for a short time. Amazing Bertha just keeps on going!

NHC graphics have already suggested a slight possibility of a hurricane before ETT.
