I don't think it lacks a surface low. It lacks a closed surface circulation.

The closest thing it has to a circulation center is about just at the coordinates the map shows for the system from what I saw on satellite a few minutes aga. I do have to say that it is somewhat of a reach to even get that though. Just doesn't seem to want to close off for some reason. I am very surprised it hasn't with all of the convection.

There is a broad low at the surface I believe but jsut like the last few days its just not tight enough yet to upgrade.
As with sustained winds of 40mph, indeed there will be TS strength winds therefore preps should be the same regardless...a very active wave feature.

Note that there are significant differences between a surface low and LLC.

That southern blob of convection has been very stubborn in the last few hours, if anything forms there then its going to run straight into land...however I suspect the surface feature will deelop a little further north then that blob.

Obviously I'm being sarcastic, but from the way she was talking, it was as if she was wanting to compare it to Katrina.

That's all we need is to give the oil companies "another" excuse to jack the prices up.

Oil companies don't set the oil price. They profit when the prices are higher, but it is supply and demand, and anticipated supply and demand. the anti-capitalist propaganda being put out by the main stream media works well with the uninformed and ignorant.

Edit to add- that was a little harsh, but I lost my job ten years ago when oil dropped to $10 barrel, and took a year to find a new job, and people with the reflexive distrust of an industry that provides a far greater service, with a lot more man power and investment, for smaller profit margins than, say, Coca Cola or bottled water really cheeses me off, as do discussions of 'obscene' salaries for biig oil company top execs who do a lot more work for less pay than say, Brad Pitt or George Clooney.

Three areas of cyclonic development in the Atlantic, one massive system moving off Africa, and record-breaking storms, yet we're still able to get off-topic!

Cmon folks, surely 94L is interesting enough to stay on topic...

Yeah I was thinking that Derek, it also is making the GFDL track look very stupid right now if that happens. If it does keep going 275-280 it may have a hard time even getting into the BoC if that happens. Still I suspect it will gain more latitude soon, not nearly as much as some models prog though.

Yeah I caught that :P , and I agree, There is some low level inflow feeding somewhere and I havnt seen any outflow boundaries today..but if it is trying to form down south its going to run into land before long..
