I believe the ridge is weakening some now and we will be looking at a landfall N. of Brownsville by the am. Goodnight all and be safe in S. TX.

wxmann,

this will not be inland in 24 hours.

The models have handled the storm very well... You sometimes tend to over react to short term trends

Chalk up another one for the EURO. It was hands down the best last year.

That's at super-high levels, not at any operational altitude.

Watch if this thing takes a turn to the north more tomorrow, you will have everyone back. Especially if the forecast is for the center of Texas.

You're right about that..And if it does (besides having to deal with 1,000 'I told yall sos'), we will just have to deal with it. I tell people, there's nothing you can do about it if he/she heads your way except be prepared.

Amen. I mean the NWS has done a good job tracking this thing. If it takes a turn to the north tonight or tomm, then there is nothing we can do. It is one of those things that just happens.

So... does anybody think this is the largest relatively weak tropical storm in recorded history in the Gulf? I mean, it practically covers the entire Gulf, and part of the WC... I know I can't remember a larger TS...

Yep, it's like this every time...

Any ideas on what'll happen with the fragment of Dolly that was left behind. It's now over the Yucatan.

It won't and if it does it will do it just before landfall IMHO.

I still think this storm will make a northernly jog and most likely do a Rita, skirt the Texas Coast for a while before finally deciding on where she will make landfall. That is if she decides not to stall out there with TUTT below her and the high above her breaking down as we speak.
